World's smallest oil company
Dannie van Osch • TEDxVenlo
A vast amount of CO 2 is emitted by fossil oil resources, which is one of the factors causing a global climate change. Forming an oil from natural components can be considered as CO 2 neutral. Especially lignin can be of interest for this, since it is currently seen as a waste product and burned for its caloric value. Recently, a crude lignin oil is made from
lignin.
This “green” oil can have a positive impact on the world. Crude lignin oil can be made from lignin directly or by extracting the lignin from wood. This oil is comparable to fossil oil. It can also be used to make chemicals, materials such as plastic and fuels with a much lower CO 2 impact on the world.
In his talk, Dannie proposes that by using this crude lignin oil the world can have a positive impact and becomes more and more CO 2 neutral, especially by the smart design of the materials, chemicals and fuels that
can be made from it.
