Colleen Yeager delivers the idea with courage and conviction that everyone deserves the right to be themselves. Through her experience as a parent of a trans child she beautifully explains her choice to have a living son rather than a dead daughter. In her words, she was “on a bullet train to boy town.” This Talk was transformative this day receiving a 3-minute standing ovation – challenging us all to be educated on this subject and to be active, empathetic allies.
With special thanks to core the TEDxPortland organizing team, 70+ volunteers and cherished partners - without you this experience would not be possible. Our event history can be found TEDxPortland.com
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
