There has been a tendency in India to look to the west and to try and imitate western modes of living. There has been a widespread adoption of western architectural styles that have been copied and pasted across its landscape, forgetting the value the indigenous building practices bring. It is important to move towards sustainable vernacularism which has roots in India's rich architectural heritage, instead of blindly following the western model.
