Cancer is a huge problem and each diagnosis is associated with a CT, MRI scan these days. Radiologists may differ in their assessment and not be able to perceive certain key features which potentially could be crucial in providing optimal treatment/care to the patient. Dr. Balaji Ganeshan wants to show how a novel medical imaging algorithm called TexRAD (Texture analysis of radiological images) can extract more information (not perceptible to the naked eye of the radiologists) about the severity/complexity of cancer. Dr. Ganeshan further highlights how TexRAD can assess which cancer patient has a specific abnormal characteristic and which does not. This could assist the radiologist/treating-physician to treat the patient based on their individual risk as no one treatment fits all (personalised/precision medicine) for the best possible outcome.
