"Cloth is the first visible sign of poverty," says social entrepreneur Anshu Gupta. When he learned that people were dying in the streets of Delhi because they didn't have enough clothing, Gupta sought to correct this problem -- but not through charity. He asserts that charity alone unintentionally exacerbates poverty by stripping people of their dignity and explains why he created "Cloth for Work," an initiative that works alongside rural Indians to help fix their most neglected issues in exchange for clothing.
