Why is that in Japan, having a large population at high risk due to the longevity of its citizens and with high levels of smokers, an epidemic like the coronavirus had a lower incidence of contagion than in other countries? Anna was born in the United States; she descendant of a Japanese mother. With over 20 years of living in Argentina, she shares with us her observations on Japanese cultural patterns that cast some light on the possible answers. Fiction writer and doctor in comparative literature, Anna is American, daughter of a Japanese mother and a German descent father. She lives in Buenos Aires since 1995 and writes in Spanish, has published two books of narrative, many short stories in anthologies, and the recent volume "Views: Japanese Literature of the Twentieth Century" in the collection Cuadernos de Malba Literatura. She currently directs the New York University program in Buenos Aires.
