One person likes beer and the other one likes wine. But we all like cocktails. They are complex and more fun. Knowing that - why would a museum show art in a ‘one size fits all’ manner? Wouldn’t it be far more interesting to see art in context? Ann Demeester is managing director of Frans Hals Museum| De Hallen Haarlem and pleas for a borderless perspective on art. Because a piece of art is not about the period it is made.
Ann DeMeester: “Think and look like an artist and you will see more similarities between the 17th century painter Jan Steen and Snapchat than you might think”.
