A star on Earth – Together for fusion energy

One of the pivotal challenges before humanity is developing a source of clean energy, available to all and compatible with sustainable development. We are powerfully reminded of this by this year's weather condition - the hottest and driest ever recorded - and a war on the borders of Europe that has generated, on top of death and destruction, enormous struggles in energy supply. Nuclear fusion, the energy source of all stars, has an enormous potential to help us meet this challenge. Nuclear fusion research is a virtuous example of globalization, with a planetary collaboration whose apex is ITER, a project in the final stages of construction, which will demonstrate its scientific and technological feasibility. In parallel with ITER, the international community is focused on the last leg of the research journey, to develop industrial reactors, capable of providing electricity to our cities, along with renewable energy. Prometheus' dream of giving the fire of the gods to humans has never been more real and close to contributing to the well-being of humanity without "mortgaging" the future of the planet.
