Artificial intelligence (AI) has experienced an explosion of success over the past decade. Despite this, AI is still not being use to solve our most challenging safety-critical tasks. The key is in building AI that we can trust. At MIT, Alexander Amini is building advanced AI algorithms that can understand when they should and should not be trusted, so they can ask for help, just like humans do. His breakthrough technology trains AI systems to be aware of their own risks and biases, opening the door to a future where human and artificial minds work together to solve our most pressing, safety-critical challenges.
