TED takes your privacy very seriously and makes every effort to safeguard your personal data.

This privacy policy is intended to inform you of the types of information we collect, how this information is used and the steps we take to protect your information, as well as providing you a process to update, change or deactivate your account and delete your personal data. We have also included Privacy Shield Framework data protection requirements from one of our technology partners in case your personal data is transferred from the European Union or Switzerland.

By using this Site, you agree to this privacy policy and you consent to the collection and use of your information in accordance with the terms of this policy.

If you have any questions regarding this privacy policy, please contact your Primary Administrator who will contact TED with any issues on privacy, support or usage of this Site.

What information we collect

We collect three (4) types of information:

(i) Personally identifiable information
(ii) Aggregated Data
(iii) Customer Feedback
(iv) Customer Support Data

Personally identifiable information is data you provide directly to us when your Primary Administrator creates an account with us; this information (i) is processed and stored by TED or its authorized reseller to manage our customer accounts, and (ii) may be collected when you are requesting chat support via the support processes available on the Site, or when accessing TED Content through your Learning System.

TED collects limited personally identifiable information to help administer and manage access to this Site effectively.

Aggregated data is anonymized information (such as pages visited on the Site, browser type, IP address) which is collected to understand how you consume TED content, and includes usage data, reports, and progress of consumption with respect to various curated lists defined and utilized by your Learning Administrator.

Aggregated information is not connected to you or to any other personally identifiable information relating to you.

Customer feedback is information provided by you with respect to the use of TED content on your Learning System, including information that will be utilized for improving this Site and to understand how you curate TED content to best fit your organization. You agree that TED may use any feedback provided without your consent, including reproduction or distribution of such information and derivative works which may be used by TED at any time.

Customer support data is information that you may provide during a chat session or support session with TED or TED’s technology partners when providing assistance to enable access to this Site or to TED content.

The information you provide may be offered directly or through your Primary Administrator. We also track data with cookies.

Cookies are used to track data to help us improve the user experience at the Site and to better provide services to you.

Data collected with cookies

TED, through its technology partner, may use “cookies” to recognize you and to acquire aggregated information that allows TED to analyze traffic patterns and tune the performance and functionality of the Site. A cookie is a file that is placed on your hard drive when you visit a website. It contains specific information that allows the Site to “recognize” your computer the next time you visit. The most important use of cookies is to eliminate the need for you to re-enter your information every time you visit the Site. Most browsers accept cookies by default, but you can turn off cookies using your browser settings. If you turn off cookies, certain Site features may no longer work or may work differently.

Please note that when you accept a cookie from the Site, TED does not gain access to your hard drive or personal information other than the information you have provided to us.

How we use your data

We use your data for limited purposes and do not sell it to any third parties. Specific uses are defined below.

Providing requested services

We may use the data to fulfill your requests for services and information. For example, using your contact information to respond to your Customer support questions or to provide validation that you are authorized to access the Site.

Communication

We may use the data to send your Primary Administrator email communications, such as information about your account or updates to the site.

Enforcement

We may use the data to prevent illegal activities, to enforce the Terms of Use, or as otherwise required by law.

As a result of GDPR, TED has made updates to various parts of our organization to ensure we comply with the spirit and intent of the law and enhance our privacy practices.

Steps we take to protect your privacy

To protect and prevent unauthorized access to your personal information, maintain data accuracy, prevent accidental loss, destruction, damage or theft of data, TED implements and maintains security and organizational measures with commercially reasonable physical, technical and administrative controls.
