TEDxUMDearborn is here to positively impact Southeast Michigan, while also putting University of Michigan-Dearborn on the global map. By bringing together professors, students, entrepreneurs, and professionals together for a day long conference in the Borg Warner Auditorium, we hope to demonstrate to attendees and the global community that UofM-Dearborn is a university dedicated to maintaining and promoting its richly diverse and inclusive community.

Since graduating from UofM, creative Marty has been living life as a filmmaker and traveler. His short films, music videos and commercials have taken him all over the world. Living a minimalist lifestyle, he will share how it has affected his life!

With a law degree boring him, he realized that his current lifestyle wasn't cutting it. Taking a 20-year hiatus from the states, he traveled to China, where he became accustomed to the tea ritual. It is now his life, passion, and flourishing business!

Cory Page

Happy to be back on his home campus, Cory is ready to share his story about struggling with health and self-perception. Graduating with a BA in English, his determination has also led him to receive the Chancellor's Medallion from UofM-Dearborn for writing + activism!

Using materials such as newspapers, plastic bags and VHS tape, his up cycling of products are used in remarkable ways. With a twist on the everyday dress, he has created a look like any other. His unique outlook on recycling is something to definitely watch!

Founder + CEO of Benzinga, this UofM grad has been named one of Crain's Detroit 40 Under 40. Started as a small start-up, he can proudly say Benzinga is one of the fastest growing financial media platforms from Michigan.

As artificial intelligence grows, technology will continue to replace doctors through apps like Opti, a conceptual healthcare app David introduces as a more efficient and scalable solution to wellness. David has studied Transhumanism for many years while building multiple companies as a serial entrepreneur and artist.

Keith Cooley

Having received a Bachelors in Engineering Physics and a Masters in Nuclear Engineering, his list of accomplishments are always growing. Proving to be a leader in the engineering world, his passion for recovering the economy spans far and wide!

Nabeela & Mateen Jaffer

This dynamic duo has an amazing talent that they are using to not only better their lives, but also the lives of others. Both engineers, their insight on coding and software development has led them to creating mobile apps to actively help their family.

Imaan Ali

Best known in the US and abroad for her eclectic style blogging on, Imaan Alli is a PhD student and instructor of political science at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, researching topic at the intersection of civil conflict and Islamic law. An internationally minded scholar-activist who speaks on topics close to her heart, Imaan divides her time between Egypt, Norway and the US.

David Farbman

Using his outdoor experience to his advantage, he has formed one of the largest media companies for outdoor lifestyle enthusiasts. Passionate about hunting, he has used his raw emotion and transformed it to a lifestyle that has led him to great success in business.
