About this event

Created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading,” the TEDx program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. This TEDx events is fully planned and coordinated independently,by an organizing team that consists of youth .

  • Okechukwu Ofili
    he is an artist, author and speaker. His blog articles are known for their humor, honesty and creativity in challenging the status-quo of work, life and family. In his book How Stupidity Saved My Life, Ofili utilizes his up and down educational experience as a contrasting backdrop to critically analyze the way we judge/measure intelligence in children. He argues against the school ranking system as an archaic and outdated measure of smartness, and instead believes that each child has their own unique way of learning that many parents and teachers fail to recognize
  • Bright Jaja
    Winner of AYE Award for Educational Entrepreneurship & Founder of Redance Africa. Redance Africa is a non-profitable teenage service aid organization designed to mobilize, inspire, empower and unite young people, aged between 13-19 years, with a deliberate mandate to war against HIV and AIDS, child abuse, discrimination and violence via ‘edutainment’, Socio-educational techniques, flash mobs seminars, camps, concerts, peer educating and expositions. Our mission is to provide adequate opportunity for Mind Impartation, teenage development and moral disintegration/awareness.
  • Nasir El-Rufai
    Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai was a former Director General of The Bureau of Public Enterprises, the head privatisation agency in Nigeria and also the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja from 16 July 2003 to 29 May 2007.
  • Aisha Babangida
    Philanthropist, chairperson Better Life Program for African Rural Women.
  • Fatima Dansumaila
    published author at age 18, activist for the rights of the girl child,spoken at previous TEDx Event in the middle-east
  • Nasir Mohammed
    served as Secretary-General to the Nigerian Model United Nations where he presided over a conference with over 1,300 participants including members of the diplomatic community, has worked with a consulting firm in the UK prior to joining “These Young Minds” as a Project Manager.
  • Dayo Benjamin-Laniyi
    She is one of Nigeria's first female entrepreneur in professional sound reinforcement in the country, having founded 'DOXA Digital Nigeria. She is also the Co-Chair of the Nigeria-Trinidad Joint Commission and she is of dual origin Nigerian-Trinidadian.
  • Sanusi Lamido
    Governor and Chairman of the Board Central Bank of Nigeria He was appointed the 10th Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria in June 2009. Mr. Sanusi has been conferred with a National Award of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and also been awarded the “Global Central Bank Governor for 2010” by The Banker Magazine - a publication of the Financial Times. He was also voted Central Bank Governor of the Year for Sub-Saharan Africa 2010 by Emerging Markets – a publication of Euromoney Institutional Investors, for the second consecutive year. In 2011, Mr. Sanusi was named Forbes Africa Person of the Year for 2011 and he was also listed by TIME Magazine, as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.
  • Munir Yakubu
    An intentional relations student of Zirve university turkey, final year, founder Sabali Shoes and allied services, Entrepreneur, building a brand that aims to be a link of conjunction for the youths of our country, an opportunity to show my peer that you can be who you want to be through hard work and determination, no goal is above your reach, currently working on a fashion festival aimed at gathering every age group from different sectors and countries to see the level Nigerian fashion has reached today and show the world our potential and how we've transformed our cultural looks to fit into the modern society.
  • Simeon Ononobi
    Simeon studied biochemistry, but his love for computers and technology knew no bounds. He left school and started a Project he called BUMP (Back Up My Phone). It’s a complex backup system that has a server and mobile application that allows you to back up your phone content. He later went on start up a company called Do-My-Stuff and got the contract to design the GTBank first mobile lifestlye application called MoVe. That was a major break that has led to his developing various solutions ranging from mobile to web portals. During the 2007 elections, he designed the Letmyvotecount Mobile tracking site for just the elections. He was contracted by the Ministry of Finance to design the YouWiN! web portal and marking software. He was signed up by Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala to develop her World Bank presidency campaign website and Online presence and, as usual, since then, been developing software’s and rendering top notch services to his highly valued clients.
