About this event

In 5 words: How to heal the world.
This event will feature talks from intelligent, motivated young adults and working adults who are all passionate about examining and finding solutions to some serious global problems. As such, our event has been named "Wishing Well", as all the speakers and organizers involved would like to find a way to make the world a healthier place to live. The overall theme of 'Wellness' will be broken down into 3 subtopics which are: psychological wellness, physical wellness and global wellness.

Confirmed Speakers

  • Shanardra Fadilah
    Shanardra is a current International Baccalaureate candidate and high school senior at DAA. Shanardra intends to attend university in the UK next year, where she will be studying International Law.
  • Yousef Manialawy
    Yousef is a current International Baccalaureate candidate and high school senior at DAA. Yousef intends to attend university in Canada where he will study Pre-Med. Yousef intends to pursue a career in medicine and reesearch.
  • Radhika Gupta
    Radhika is a graduate of University of British Columbia's Class of 2011. Radhika is currently working as a market researcher at Nissan, and intends to pursue graduate studies within the next year. Radhika has always been passionate about food, the environment and society, and how those three things interact in the real world.
  • Candice Anderson
    Candice is a current International Baccalaureate candidate and high school senior at DAA. Candice intends to study Pre-Med at University of Toronto next year, and later pursue a career in medicine.
  • Natalya Rahman
    Natalya is a current 10th grade student at DAA. She intends to register as a full International Baccalaureate Diploma student in the coming year. Natalya has always been passionate about understanding the ways society affects people's psychological well being.
  • Simon Nestel
    Simon currently works at Carousel Solutions, the company that is spearheading the "Pay it Forward" movement in the UAE. Simon believes that the power of small actions can (and does) affect the world in a positive manner, and that the best way to continue this positive change is to teach the youth of today that they can make a difference.
  • Dahlia Docrat
    Dahlia is a current International Baccalaureate candidate and high school junior at DAA. Dahlia intends to study psychology after receiving her IB Diploma. Dahlia is passionate about stopping the formation of and acceptance of negative stereotypes about people with mental disorders.
  • Apoorva Gupta
    Apoorva is a current 10th grade student at Dubai American Academy. Apoorva intends to purse an International Baccalaureate Diploma. Apoorva is passionate about prevent animal cruelty and promoting conservation efforts.
  • Sarah Abukscem
    Sarah is a current International Baccalaureate candidate and high school junior at DAA. Sarah intends to study medicine in the UK after receiving her IB Diploma. Sarah has been actively and independently learning about nanotechnology in order to prepare herself for her (potential) future career in nanotechnology research.
  • Lynn Reyes
    Lynn currently works as a part of the "Smarter Cities" initiative that is run by IBM. Lynn works to find creative solutions to make cities (specifically, Dubai), more eco-friendly, economically secure, improve their public transit systems and more safe.
  • Annette Kjell
    Annette is a current International Baccalaureate candidate and high school junior at DAA. Annette is passionate about conservation and working to protect all animals (endangered or not). Annette has already worked with vets in various countries to gain experience on working around animals.
  • Pietro Emiliani
    Pietro is a current 10th grade student at DAA. He intends to register as a full International Baccalaureate Diploma student in the coming year. Pietro is passionate about the law and understanding the direct and indirect ways it affects us.
