Embark on a journey of exploration and discovery at TEDxYouth@TAMS. TEDxYouth@TAMS is a half-day conference on Saturday, February 17th, 2024 with 8 Denton community leaders and avid learners as our speakers.

TEDxYouth@TAMS provides free food and drink for attendees. All food and drinks will be curated and available based on your preferences from local to large businesses in the Denton community. TEDxYouth@TAMS is like no other; an event that supports the listening and dispersion of important ideas that can change the world today. Unlock new understandings of your surroundings and what you can imagine through our passionate and uniquely driven speakers, all happening on February 17th.

Allison Chau

TAMS Student
Allison Chau, a high school senior at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science, is a biology student and researcher in nanoparticle therapeutics. Allison leads a project on formulating nanoparticles that leverage the tumor environment to improve cellular uptake at target sites. She also loves competition biology and teaches biology and engineering to underprivileged high school and elementary school students. Co-founder of the TAMS rock climbing club and pROfiLE competitions coordinator, she is most likely to be found at the climbing wall or drawing in her room. Her other interests include poetry, reading, doing puzzles, and playing horror games.

Anirudh Mazumder

Anirudh Mazumder is a junior at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science passionate about conducting research in the field of computer science. Fascinated by other fields such as computer science and public policy, he plans to pursue them academically and professionally in the future. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer and learning about artificial intelligence.

Archith Sharma

Archith Sharma is a student at the Texas Academy of Math and Science with interests in finance, economics, medicine, mathematics, and data science. Archith loves to talk and debate about anything, and also enjoys sports, playing piano, tracking birds, reading books, being with family and friends and serving the community.

Brian Koo

Brian Koo is a junior at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science passionate about conducting research in the field of biomedical engineering. Fascinated by other fields such as computer science and public policy, he plans to pursue them academically and professionally in the future. In his free time, he enjoys running and learning about linguistics and theology.

Elliott Slaughter

TAMS Student
Elliott Slaughter is a junior at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science with a passion for chemical engineering, writing, and advocacy. She is an executive board member and content creator for Nightingale Advocacy, a nonprofit that drives youth towards progressive health policy, and she leads the chapter at TAMS. She is also an avid feminist and environmentalist, never hesitating to champion the changes she believes in. When she’s not studying or toiling away in her research lab, you can find her compiling TikTok sounds for her next health policy reel, mapping out plots for sci-fi stories, and (of course) scheming to overthrow the patriarchy.

Krish Kohir

TAMS Student
Krish Kohir is a junior at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science. He is very passionate about physical chemistry, quantum physics, and astrophysics. He is currently conducting research on graphene, and constructed a viable sun tracker for a lunar rover for NASA. He believes in inspiring the next generation to follow the world of STEM, and volunteered at the Perot Museum to achieve that dream. Outside of the STEM field, Krish is very interested in public speaking, and has participated in speech and debate for several years. He also enjoys filmmaking, and he has won numerous awards for his works. His other hobbies include reading, biking, playing video games, and cards.

Ria Rana

Ria Rana is a junior in the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science at UNT. With a background in public health advocacy, her interests range from biological applications in healthcare to advocating for potential answers to America's current health crises. She was chosen as a 2023 National Texas Youth Advocate for Y-USA to advocate for national priorities such as access to low-cost early learning and child care programs, investment in the CDC's prevention and control strategies to combat the chronic disease tsunami, and increased civic engagement through civic education. She is passionate in engaging young people in politics and teaching them how to use their voices through effective advocacy in the political scene.

Surie Guo

TAMS Student
Surie Guo, a student on the health professions pathway at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS), is currently conducting neuroscience research at UNT, where she enjoys learning about the brain. Beyond academics, Surie actively contributes to the community by volunteering at a local clinic and mentoring girls in STEM. She is devoted to her passion for animals, enjoys baking for her family, and a fangirl for K-pop with her friends.
