In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ahmad Price

Student
Ahmad Price is a rising young man from Oakland, California. Through his journey of moving from public to private school, he tells how he was able to escape his comfort zone with his first-hand experience. Uncertain of what the future holds for him, he looks to show people that reaching outside of their comfort zone can open doors of opportunity, create character development, and improve their growth as a person.

Farima Pour-Khorshid

Professor
Dr. Farima Pour-Khorshid was born and raised in the Bay Area. She became a first generation Ph.D. after a decade of elementary level teaching as well as supporting educators locally, nationally, and internationally through her roles as a university professor, teacher supervisor, educational consultant, and community organizer. She is now a professor at the University of San Francisco and also holds leadership roles in justice centered education collectives such as the Teachers 4 Social Justice, the Education for Liberation Network, the Abolitionist Teaching Network, and Flourish Agenda.

Fatema Bhaiji

Student
Fatema Ali Bhaiji is an avid writer and the author of two books, “the teenage cookbook” and “El Camino Brillante//The Sparkling Path”. Fatema dabbles in several areas of writing such as screenwriting and journalism but tends to focus on the imaginative genre of fiction. She aspires to be a full-time published author, travel, and learn more foreign languages other than the ones she currently studies (Spanish and French). She will be attending the University of Southern California as a Trustee Scholar to study creative writing.

Ishan Kollipara

Student
Ishan Kollipara is a senior at Moreau Catholic High School, who will be attending UC Santa Cruz in the fall. He is passionate about space, and plans to major in astrophysics to pursue his desire to research it. He also is the captain of the badminton team and passed his piano CM 10 test with state honors.

Jordan Ismael

Student
Jordan Ismael is a former Football Player and JV Coach at Moreau Catholic High School. Jordan strives to be a leader amongst the pack and works to inspire his peers through his words and actions. As of now, Jordan is due to enter bootcamp out of high school where he seeks to earn the title of United States Marine.

Kale Sinay

Student
Kale Sinay, named after a green vegetable, is a senior in high school just trying to enjoy the last three months of his high school career. He’s a part of social justice leadership and indulges in hearing and listening to other people’s stories. He enjoys watching Tom and Jerry, as well as slow walks on the beach. He gets lost listening to slow jazz and oldies but goodies (Paul Anka, Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin). Besides his hobbies, he just wants to make his parents proud.

Kamara Pitts

Student
Kamara Pitts attends Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward California. She is also apart of Social Justice Leadership and Co-Presidents of the Black Student Union. Kamara is passionate about utilizing her voice to speak out for the voiceless. She is dedicated to educating everyone about social justice issues within our society. In the future, she sees herself receiving a bachelor's degree in biology and going to nursing school. She wants to pursue a career in health care, and challenge unfair health treatments seen in lower classes and people of color. She hopes to be able to break down these inequalities and witness equal healthcare world-wide.

Karina Ratra

Student
Karina Ratra is a graduating high school student who, along with her passions for public speaking and social justice, hopes to pursue a future in business and politics and empower young women to help advance gender equality. Currently, she is President of Moreau Catholic’s Varsity Mock Trial team and South Asian Student Association. She is an active member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Student Leadership Team and volunteers frequently at the Sikh Temple. The values Karina stands for have allowed her to become an active and passionate leader in her community, but her journey in the movement towards equality is not over yet.

Keerthana Srikrishnan

Keerthana Srikrishnan is a senior at Moreau Catholic. She is interested in business, marketing, art, and politics. During an internship over the summer, she became interested in marketing and media, especially the ways in which media effects our everyday lives.

Kendal Kibanoff

Student
Kendal Kibanoff is a prestigious student-athlete at Moreau Catholic. Kendal has played on the Varsity Volleyball team all four years of her high school career, earning team captain her current senior year and recognition from Cal-Hi Sports as a selected U.S. Bank Inspirational Athlete. In school, Kendal is an active member on the Social Justice Leadership team, National Honors Society, and Link Crew Executive Council. After high school, Kendal plans to major in Nursing and compete at the collegiate volleyball level. Her ultimate goal is to continue to embrace characteristics and passions learned from those who are no longer in her life physically.

Khushi Bhalla

Student
Khushi Bhalla is a graduating high school senior. She is passionate about educating others on the importance of self-empowerment, public speaking, and social justice. She is a member of Moreau Catholic's Varsity Mock Trial Team and a tutor for underprivileged students in her community. She also dabbles in poetry writing, and dance. Khushi aspires to be an attorney and advocate for social justice in the legal field. She will be attending UC Berkeley to study Political Science and business.

Matthew Quiambao

Student
Matthew Quiambao is an aspiring therapist who seeks to understand the human mind and to apply that knowledge in the pursuit of a world more emotionally intelligent and mentally healthy. As someone who has lived with emotions as a focal point in his life, he sees it as both his desire and his responsibility to assist those with their emotional problems just as he had been helped by so many. With a passion for speaking and a mind in constant introspection, he seeks to make the world even a little bit better for those around him.

Ofure Ologbosele

Student
Ofure Ologbosele attends Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward California. She is apart of Social Justice Leadership and Co-Presidents of the Black Student Union. Ofure is passionate about using her voice to make good noise and making the world a more equal and equitable place for everyone. In the future, she aspires to get her bachelor's degree in communications and continue on to get her masters. She want to pursue a career in marketing, with her end goal being to one day own her own marketing agency. She hopes to one day start a non-profit that teaches the next generation of leaders about real world issues and how to be pioneers of change.

Rohan Karunaratne

Rohan Karunaratne is a Bay Area native, who has grown up surrounded by the influence of Silicon Valley. His unique and differentiating upbringing has fostered his vision around entrepreneurship, and its ability to be leveraged to help society to solve difficult, but necessary social problems. He hopes to utilize this perspective to innovate in college and beyond, and surround himself with like minded people who want to create sustainable change in the world.

Twesha Ghosh

Student
Twesha Ghosh is a senior at Moreau Catholic High School. She is the president of Inclusive Club and a wheelchair accessible travel blogger for her site, Twesha's Travel Diary. Twesha grew up with a father who is a wheelchair/crutch user. In 2021, she provisionally patented her Self-elevating, All-Terrain, Covid-19 Safe All-Purpose wheelchair design, and hopes to patent her design by 2023. In the future, Twesha hopes to create a company that mass produces mechanically powered all-purpose wheelchairs that are economical, portable, and cater to the people in need. She will be continuing her education at UC Berkeley College of Engineering pursuing a major in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research.

Zafirah Doss

Zafirah Doss is a senior at Moreau Catholic High School. At Moreau, she is a part of the social justice leadership class and plays on the Moreau Varsity Softball team. Zafirah is very passionate about speaking up for others and helping people in lower-income class communities. In the future, Zafirah plans on continuing her academic/athletic career at Howard University. She will be majoring in nursing and wishes to become a nurse practitioner.

Zoe Ramos

Zoe Ramos is a senior at Moreau Catholic High School where she is a member of Moreau’s Social Justice Leadership and Vice President of Body Positivity and Nutrition Club. Zoe is also involved in varsity soccer and lacrosse both in and outside of school. The Social Justice Leadership program at Moreau has encouraged her to proactively speak out about social justice issues in hopes to make a change in her community. Zoe will be attending UC Davis in the fall.
