Theme: What Lies Ahead.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Bayu Samuel

Senior Analyst, Game Theorist, and a curious observer of life. Over the past two and half years, he has been closely studying and working to help form a peculiar state-owned corporation in his home country Ethiopia. He earned his Bsc in Addis Ababa University studying civil Engineering. Bayu graduated publishing his thesis paper on the third European and Mediterranean structural engineering and construction conference held in Limassol, Cyprus in August of 2020. Bayu later pursued his passion for Mathematics and found solace in game-theoretic concepts after taking various online courses at Stanford he now has mastered Advanced Game theoretic concepts and problem-solving skills.

hailemelekot mewael

Hailemelekot Mewael is the famous and respected writer and teacher for the last 33 years in Amharic language. He is known with his outstanding novels titled <<GUNGUN>> and <<YEWEDIANESH>>. He has published other books, different stories and articles. Hailemelekot has been worked as a producer and editor in E’FOYI’TA and FE’RT magazines. Hailemelekot is the member of Ethiopian Writer’s Association consulting board and member of <RED TERROR memorial association>>. Hailemellekot Mewael is known with his support for the young and known writers. He edited more than 50 published books of different writer’s works.

Lensa (Aida) Mekonnen

She's a business leadership and information technology professional and former CEO of Ethiopian Tourism Organization and now leading FDRE Land Bank and Development Corporation (LBDC) , a self-funded government enterprise tasked with creating a methodical and inclusive national landholding development, management and administration system for maximization of socio-economic gains.

Ruth Tekleab

Graduated from Smith College in the United States with a major in Sociology, a minor in Economics and a Five-College certificate in International Relations. After graduating from college, Ruth moved back to her home country of Ethiopia where she is currently working within the Ethiopian judiciary. Ruth is the founder and host of the podcast, "Internationalie by Ruth", where she discusses the experiences of international students abroad. Each episode, she sits down with a fellow international student and discusses different topics.

Solomon Kassa

Tech Consultant & Strategist Author | TV Personality | Public Speaker Founder, 1888EC | Brand Ambassador for Ethio Telecom

Solomon is a technology strategist and consultant at a Fortune 500 Global Firm in the USA leading a multimillion-dollar large technology implementation. He worked as a software engineer before joining management consulting. He is also a producer and host of the popular “TechTalk With Solomon” on EBS. For the past 10 years, Solomon produced more than 273 episodes, discussing 700+ science & tech topics as well as interviewing 100+ prominent guests including Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. In 2018, he published “ግርምተ ሳይቴክ” (The Wonder of SciTech) – the first-of-its-kind science & tech 400 pages book to be ever published in Amharic and sold 45,000 copies so far. As a result of his continuous desire to do more in bringing a digital disruption and transformation in Ethiopia, he founded 1888 EC, a unique tech startup studio and an innovation co-working hub in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 2020. Solomon is a social media influencer with more than 1.4 million followers.

An architect who won Association of Ethiopian Architects (AEA) prize for outstanding achievement in architecture 2014 and also known for major projects such as Laphto Mall and Fitness Center, Hawassa University Projects, Awash Bank lideta branch, AR Stone building, Nile Source Head Quarter building which is under construction and Oromia Insurance Head Quarter building(40-story) under construction.
