In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Mike Fero

Ph.D., President and COO, TeselaGen Biotechnology
Dr. Fero is a California based scientist and entrepreneur who is best known for his work on the fundamental physics of the Electroweak interaction at MIT and Stanford, human genome microarrays at Stanford, and synthetic biology at TeselaGen. After leaving physics to spend several years spent developing software companies, Dr. Fero's expanding interest in fundamental biology culminated in collaboration with Pat Brown and David Botstein, and under their tutelage built and manufactured the world’s first human genome scale microarrays at Stanford. Dr. Fero then turned to systems biology and with Lucy Shapiro and Harley McAdams at Stanford where he developed an automated high content diffraction limited microscopic screen of triply fluorescently tagged bacteria to better understand the bacterial cell cycle. Dr. Fero and two Stanford colleagues started TeselaGen to accelerate synthetic biology and the bio-based economy.
