February 3, 2021
10:00am - 11:30am PST
(UTC -8hrs)
Atherton, California
United States

Due to Covid-19, this event is being held virtually. This is the second event in this series as we were unable to host a full event in-person in the spring. This event features three speakers who will explore what it means to be human. They seek to answer the following questions:
What does it mean to be human in today’s world?
How do we define ourselves as humans and our interaction with the environment, machines and our own self-realization?
How do we see humanness in light of our values of compassion, respect, forgiveness, generosity, courage, confidence, and integrity?

Armin Hamrah

Student
I am Armin Hamrah, a sophomore in high school. One way in which I spend my free time is by watching TED Talks that inspire me, something I hope to accomplish with you. Some other ways in which I spend my pastime are playing soccer, piano, and chess, all of which revolve around real-life, human interactions.

Axel de Vernou

Student
I am a high school senior. While my main passions are writing and reading, I enjoy studying a variety of subjects through an interdisciplinary lens, which is what inspired me to create a TedTalk focused on the intersection between STEM and mental health. I believe that our society can make great progress when people of different interests share their ideas in ways that inspire reflection and discourse.

Harsimran Chohan

Student
Harsimran Chohan is a junior at Sacred Heart Preparatory (SHP) in Atherton. She is active within her school community and holds leadership positions on the Model UN Team, SHP Connections Committee, and Global Researching & Consultation (GRC) Program. Outside of school, Harsimran is training as a student pilot, works as a paddle-boarding/kayaking instructor, and plays club field hockey. Harsimran has always been interested in the arts participating in school plays and a Bhangra (Indian dance) group since kindergarten. She aspires to pursue a career in law or psychology.
