Countdown is a global initiative to champion and accelerate solutions to the climate crisis, turning ideas into action.
The goal: To build a better future by cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030 in the race to a zero-carbon world – a world that is safer, cleaner and fairer for everyone.

Every organization, company, city and nation and citizens everywhere are invited to collaborate with Countdown and take action on climate. It is a movement open to everyone – and everyone has a vital role to play.

Hammad Naqi Khan

CEO WWF Pakistan

Hammad Naqi Khan is the CEO of WWF-Pakistan. Hammad has more than 30 years of professional experience in climate change adaptations, sustainable agriculture with focus on improving farmer’s livelihood, market transformation & greening supply chain, food security, water management, resource mobilization and partnership building. As Global Cotton Leader (Aug 2011 to July 2014) under WWF-International's Market Transformation Initiative (MTI), Hammad has lead advocacy approaches, representing WWF in multilateral fora and other policy dialogues. Hammad was a member of Senior Executive Team (SET) for Asia Pacific Growth Strategy (APGS) and has also represented Asia Pacific in Network Executive Team (NET) of WWF-international from 2015 to July 2018; in addition he was a member of SWG and WWF GEF Steering Committee. Hammad is a non-official member of Pakistan Climate Change Committee chaired by Prime Minister and also Fellow of Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD) Program.

Maha Qasim

Environment and Sustainability Expert

Maha is an Environment and Sustainability Expert specializing in Energy & Environmental Policy and Climate Finance. She is currently providing research, advisory, program development and implementation support to clients in the Middle East, Africa, South Asia and surrounding regions. Previously, she led the accreditation process for the first commercial bank in Pakistan to become eligible to receive financing from the Green Climate Fund. Prior to this, Maha worked full-time for Engro Corporation and its subsidiaries (as a Business Analyst for Engro Corporation and as an Environmental Engineer for the Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company). Maha holds a Masters in Environmental Management (M.E.M.) from the Yale School of Environment and a Bachelor in Civil and Environmental Engineering (B.S.E.) from Princeton University along with a certificate in International Affairs and Public Policy from the Woodrow Wilson School.

Musa Aamir

Musa Aamir is Co-Founder at Rizq, a movement aiming to combat food wastage and hunger. Rizq has been recognized as one of the top 20 Social Enterprises of South Asia by DFID and Nike Foundation backed SPRING Programme. Rizq has also been recognized as the top 3 Social Enterprises in Pakistan by Engro in 2017. Recently they have been awarded the Queen’s Commonwealth Point of Light Award, as well recognized by the government for their services in the Covid Crisis. Rizq is spearheading product innovation to create systems for food distribution and channelization to feed 100 million food insecure Pakistanis. Musa has over 4 years of experience in various social organizations, academia and research institutions like LUMS, Cambridge University, Royal Commonwealth Society. He is the youngest recipient of the Alumni Achievement Award in LUMS, and a motivational speaker featured on various national/international platforms such as PespiCO, FAO, TEDx and Commonwealth.

Yasmeen Lari

Architect, a humanitarian, and a heritage conservationist.

Co-Founder and CEO, Heritage Foundation of Pakistan Yasmeen Lari, Pakistan’s first female architect, is also a humanitarian and heritage conservationist. She graduated from Oxford Brookes University n 1963. She has built several landmarks buildings in Pakistan and is considered among pioneers of Brutalist Architecture. After retiring in 2000 she has been engaged in heritage management and humanitarian architecture. She is the founder of Barefoot Social Architecture and Barefoot Incubator for Social Good and Environmental Sustainability devised to empower marginalized sections of society. She is best known as a proponent of zero carbon footprint conceptions that are drawn from vernacular traditions and incorporate tenets of social and ecological justice. She is the recipient of Jane Drew Prize 2020, Fukuoka Prize 2016 and national awards Hilal-i-Imtiaz (2014) and Sitara-i-Imtiaz (2006).
