In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Gabe Toea

Debate Captain
Gabe Toea is captain of Crescent Valley’s Speech and Debate team and has competed for the team for the past three years. Before that, Gabe was part of the Debate team at Jack Britt High School in North Carolina, where he was a Lincoln Douglas debater. Here in Oregon, he continued to do Lincoln Douglas debate until his Junior year, where he switched to Parliamentary debate. He’s a two-time district champion in Lincoln Douglas Debate and district champion in Parliamentary Debate. Gabe has been to the State debate tournament for the past three consecutive years. As captain of Speech and Debate, Gabe has been training new members of the team to improve their speaking and debating skills. As a result, he has acquired extensive knowledge in debate and rhetoric.

He was born and raised in Corvallis. Not only is he involved in the local music scene of Corvallis, but he is also a high-jumper for the track team, as well as an avid skier. Juan Castillo Delgado

Juan is the Speech Captain of the Corvallis Speech & Debate team and works mainly in performing poetry. As a freshman on the team, Juan managed to final in the Poetry Reading event. He does poetry reading on the team to promote the conversation among poets and to share the artists’ struggle for their integrity.
