x = independently organized TED event

This event occurred on

Berwick, Victoria
Australia

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Adrianna Hu

I am a year 11 student at Lakeside College. I will be talking about how we can improve the education system by incorporating more creativity and freedom in learning. I want an education system where students can enhance their potential and to succeed in life, in a more creative way. If we do that we can create a world of leaders for the next generation that follows in order to create a better world.

Ayman Khan

I want to warn young women about the dangers of diet culture. I am a 17 year old student at Minaret College, Officer Campus. I will be talking about the damage and destruction that diet culture can bring into our lives. I want to share my insights about how damaging a focus on eating and diet can become and things we can all do to help prevent unhealthy relationships with food.

Jeremy Nielsen

I am a year 12 student at Haileybury College. I will be talking about my interest in cancer therapy and why I think you should be interested too. I find cancer and the therapy used to overcome it very interesting. I think it is a shame that so few people understand the process behind current advances and treatments.

Kimberley Bracher

I want to stop the negative aspects of humanitarian trips. I am a 17 year old girl from Donvale Christian College. I thrive off good conversations and being surrounded by people. I adore books, nature, photography and learning new things. I want to raise awareness of the problems that can result from well meaning but actually harmful aspects of humanitarian trips so that they empower communities in developing countries instead of bringing them down.

Leakhena Davison

Leakhena Davidson is a year 11 student at Lilydale High School. She bravely shares her journey on how she has navigated racism and negative feelings as a young Asian Australian.

Lily Cameron

I want to share my insights into the power of vulnerability. I am a year 10 student at Donvale Christian College. I will be talking about why we shouldn’t be hiding parts of ourselves that are unchangeable. I want to share my insights about how we can change our perspective on the things we feel insecure about. There is power in vulnerability.

Muhammad Mubashir Shar

I Hope To Contribute To Improve The World. I am a 17 year old student at Minaret College, Officer Campus and I will be talking about the importance of decision making. Small or big, any decision you take today, will over time create and shape the future. Decisions not only impact an individual alone but can change the course of history.

Sarah Randall

When I see an injustice I refuse to sit by and let suffering happen. I am a year 10 student at Donvale Christian College. I will be talking about what you can do to help men experiencing mental health challenges. Struggling is natural and bound to happen to everyone at some point however a lack of help and the lack of platforms to raise these struggles is not natural. It is something we can and must change.

Stacey Mubaira

I am a year 10 student at Donvale Christian College. I will be talking about what you can do to help men experiencing mental health challenges. I was born in Africa. Social inequity, prejudice and biased behaviour towards individuals is a concept I can empathize with. Hearing about male peers troubles without an effective support system is not acceptable and I want to do something to help.
