Theme: How to Take Action as an Effective Ally

This event occurred on
October 22, 2019
Seattle, Washington
United States

Have you witnessed someone being discriminated against or treated with disrespect, and wish you knew how to be a stronger advocate, an ally? Join Anastacia-Renee in a conversation around effective ally-ship for a better understanding of how to navigate this path.
Step out of your comfort zone and intentionally invite more diversity into your life by:
- Opening your awareness to your own unconscious bias
- Kindly questioning that bias
- Initiating positive action to support those facing discrimination in any situation (e.g. race, gender, culture, economic, sexual orientation, personal beliefs, and other).

It is recommended that you bring a notebook to capture reflections and actions.
Learn through impactful exercises and discussions and elevate your awareness of the impact you have. Recognize and consider what you want to do with your power. Broker connections. Bridge the divide.
Anastacia-Renee is an award-winning multi-genre writer, educator, and interdisciplinary artist. Her cross-genre writing has appeared in a TEDx talk and she teaches poetry and multi-genre workshops at Hugo House, libraries, universities, and high schools.
