In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Abby Rinderle

Student + Activist
Abby founded Student Advocates for Sexual Health Awareness (SASHA) specifically to host Sex Week at OSU—a week-long event dedicated to teaching realistic, inclusive, scientifically- accurate sex education to the OSU community. Though students come to campus with preconceived perceptions of sex, sexuality, and sexual health, Abby has found that most students crave the knowledge and autonomy that accurate sexual health education gives them. Abby believes that healthy sex education must be rooted in the conviction that we need to understand our bodies, emotions, rights, and desires before we can be expected to advocate for ourselves in a relationship or a complex, intimidating healthcare system.

More than just personal experience, Jacob is also an undergraduate student researcher for Ohio State’s Foods For Health Discovery theme, where he utilizes scientific approaches to provide evidence for the huge impact food, nutrition, and lifestyle have on our ability to prevent and heal from the diseases of modernity. Jacob strives to promote optimal health for all individuals and is making new discoveries that are paving the path for a future personalized and preventative healthcare system.
