In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Edgar Samar

Dr. Edgar Calabia Samar is a critically acclaimed author, an associate professor at the Ateneo de Manila University, and a visiting professor at Osaka University. His books have won the National Book Awards, including those from his Young Adult series, “Janus Silang.” His novel, “Walong Diwata ng Pagkahulog,” received the NCCA Writer’s Prize, and it was longlisted to the Man Asian Literary Prize. His works have also won Palancas and National Children’s Book Awards, among others.

Toto Malvar

Toto Malvar is an environmentalist and the visionary behind Mount Purro Nature Reserve, a sustainable travel destination operating in Antipolo City. Malvar also serves as the Chairman of MPNR Foundation, an organization that seeks to aid in the rehabilitation of the Upper Marikina Watershed through the empowerment of the communities living within.
