In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Daniel A. Levy

Daniel A. Levy is Professor of Psychology and head of the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory at The Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya. His research strives to decipher the secrets of human memory and the effects of ageing on memory and attention. He works both in basic science and in the development of effective methods for therapy, education and training. Prof. Levy, originally from New York, immigrated to Jerusalem in 1980, where he worked in education and educational tourism before studying psychology and neuroscience. He received his PhD from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, was a research fellow at the University of California, San Diego, and served as a scientific advisor at the Weizmann Institute of Science. Prof. Levy is deeply committed to making brain research insights accessible to the general public.

May Brooks-Kempler

A Cyber Security consultant, author, mentor, instructor and lecturer.May (Maytal) began her security career as an officer in unit 8200 of the IDF. She worked for various Israeli and global companies and realized that Cyber Technology can only get us so far and changing how people act online is a vital part of a strong security program. May serves as president of the (ISC)2 Israel chapter- a volunteer group aimed at advancing the cyber profession. She is passionate about educating children and the general public about the importance of security and privacy awareness and leads talks and security awareness campaigns.

Michal Zagon Rogel

Michal Zagon-Rogel is a wellbeing expert and a passionate advocate for the unbreakable bond between mind and body. In recent years, Michal has been exploring the effect of classical music on health and well-being. Michal holds a Master's degree in Diplomacy from the Tel Aviv University, During the past 6 years, MIchal has been studying Biological metaphysics at Migdalor center. Michal is leading dual careers as a Government and Public Affairs Manager, as well as a more recent addition of lecturing about the effect of classical music on our health. 6 years ago, Michal took her first step down the boundless rabbit hole of metaphysics lead by Ilana Rogel who transformed her comprehension of health and wellbeing. As a child, Michal played the piano and devotedly listened to classical music. She felt that music empowers her but assumed the influence was solely her own. Only in adulthood Michal developed a deeper understanding that music’s impact on health is the ultimate non-pharmacological solution to reduce pain, stress, anxiety, and fatigue. Michal is also a poet and a children’s book author.

Naomi Katz

Naomi Katz is the author of Beautiful: Being an Empowered Young Woman and the visionary behind Her Wisdom, a non-profit organization dedicated to cultivating the authenticity of women's leadership. She is an educator who provides tools for youth and adults to embody their power. Her work is a call to attention, to recognize the positive impact that education can have in realizing true equality. Naomi has worked internationally with young women for over 20 years, with particular attention to sex education for girls and leadership development among teens. Inspired by the indigenous rituals and ceremonies of the women of the earth, she has travelled the world studying ancient wisdom.

Shai Machnes

Dr. Shai Machnes is a physicist, specializing in algorithmic optimization and control of quantum systems. His long-term goal is to create an AI physicist - giving computers the tools to analyze and control complex physical systems. Working at Saarland University, Germany, he is currently leading the software side of the EU’s OpenSuperQ research project – an effort to build a 100-qubit superconducting quantum computer, far surpassing the capabilities of the world’s fastest supercomputer. Born in Israel, Shai served for 5 years in the Israeli navy as a computer programmer. After spending a few years in the internet startup world, he earned his Ph.D. in Physics from Tel-Aviv University. Since then he has been busy trying to teach computers how to do his job for him.

Tamir Gilat

In 2011 Tamir was diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic and kidney cancers, and given the shocking prognosis of having only a few months left to live. After major operations and complicated treatments, Tamir took part in two clinical trials that yielded life-saving drugs. Tamir believes in the power of man and research to transform reality. As a terminal patient, well passed his "expiration date", Tamir learned to reinvent himself daily. Tamir serves voluntarily as chairman of the Israel Cancer Research Fund (ICRF), a non-profit fund that offers research grants to top Israeli cancer researchers and devotes his life to supporting cancer patients and their families. In 2014 Tamir lost his wife, Keren, to cancer. Tamir is raising his three daughters. He studies and teaches Buddhism and meditation.

Yonatan Nir

Yonatan Nir is an internationally acclaimed documentary filmmaker who began as a travelling photojournalist, writing for national & international publications. While serving in an elite commando unit during the Second Lebanon War, Yonatan suffered from shrapnel wounds after a close-by landmine explosion. Through his physical and mental recovery, he discovered the power of film in post-traumatic growth. His work vividly captures the relationship between man & nature, pain & healing, and the power of hope & redemption. In 2009 he won the prestigious “Asian Geographic Best of the Decade” award for his photojournalism work. His films “Dolphin Boy”, “My Hero Brother”, “The Essential Link – The Story of Wilfrid Israel”, “Cutting the Pain”, and “Picture of His Life” have been screened and broadcast to millions of viewers in over 40 countries, winning numerous awards in International Film Festivals.
