Amy Torello

Amy Torello is an award winning jewelry designer from San Francisco that has called Mexico home for the last 17 years. After years of apprenticing around the world, she built her studio in Taxco Guerrero, right in the heart of the Mexican silversmithing tradition. Working with local artisans, Amy hopes to do her part to keep the craft alive in a region hard hit by the narco wars. She created her most recent project, The Humanity Ring, in conjunction with her husband as their small gift to the world- both as a fundraising vehicle for humanitarian causes as well as a personal meditation tool to help each of us find peace in these trying times. Azucena del carmen cabrera Oviedo

Nacida en 1987 en Irapuato, Guanajuato, Azucena creció en el campo y en contacto estrecho con la flora y fauna nativa que formaban parte de su quehacer y paisaje cotidiano. Convencida de la importancia de trabajar en armonía y en contacto con la naturaleza, Azucena estudió y se recibió de Ingeniera Agrónoma. Durante su carrera tuvo la fortuna de ser formada por profesores que le inculcaron el amor y respeto por la naturaleza. Se interesó particularmente en las semillas y vida del suelo. Cursó numerosos diplomados y participó en diversos cursos de formación. En el año 2010 se incorporó al proyecto de Vía Orgánica. Azucena es encargada de producción y diseño del rancho. Su trabajo de regeneración de ecosistemas degradados y de producción consciente con restauración de suelos es ejemplar de la zona del Bajío. Sumado a esta labor, Azucena imparte clases y talleres prácticos en los cuales contagia su pasión por la agroecología y la restauración y ha formado a numerosos jóvenes de la zona y la comunidad en técnicas regenerativas de restauración de ecosistemas, asociación de cultivos, producción de hortalizas, semillas y biodiversidad. Ha participado también como disertante en encuentros nacionales, regionales e internacionales. Born in 1987 in Irapuato, Guanajuato, Azucena grew up in the countryside, with the native flora and fauna being part of her daily activities and surroundings. Convinced of the importance of working in harmony and in contact with nature, Azucena studied and graduated in Agricultural Engineering. During her career she was fortunate to be formed by professors who instilled in her love and respect for nature. She was particularly interested in the seeds and soil life. She attended numerous diplomas and participated in various training courses. In 2010 Azucena joined the Via Organic Project, where she is responsible for production and design of the ranch. Her work in regeneration of degraded ecosystems and of conscious production with soil restoration is exemplary for the Bajío area. In addition to this work, Azucena teaches classes and workshops in which she transmits her passion for agroecology and restoration, and has trained many young people in the area and the communities in regenerative techniques of ecosystem restoration, crop association, vegetable production, seeds and biodiversity. She has also participated as a speaker in national, regional and international gatherings.

Elias Cattan Cherem

Arquitecto fundador de Taller13 Arquitectura Regenerativa [www.taller13.com], dedicado a entender sistemas vivos como ecosistemas y ciudades, manejando creaciones a distintas escalas; muebles, interiores, edificios y planeación urbana. Con el fin de integrar los patrones de vida comunitaria con los sistemas de de los cuales se desarrollan, así logrando procesos regenerativos.

Henry Miller

Henry Miller has been working for more than twenty years in the Mexican countryside interacting directly with the rural and indigenous population, serving as an intermediary between cultures, representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, gathering information and transferring knowledge related to community development, food production and sustainable management of natural resources. He is currently the director of the non-profit El Maíz Más Pequeño whose mission is to contribute to the development of Mexico through the promotion of adaptive governance, education for life and ecological territorial management in the face of climate change. Between 2016 and 2019, he was the coordinator of the project Watersheds, People, Water and Climate Change: adaptation processes in the Támbula Sub-Basin.

Karla María Gutiérrez

Karla María Gutiérrez es periodista, escritora y comunicadora mexicana para impresos, radio, televisión y medios digitales; actividades que ha combinado con docencia y dirección y consultoría de medios. En 2018 Harper Collins publicó su primer libro “Revelaciones de un misionero. Mi vida itinerante”, obra biográfica y testimonial en coautoría con Alejandro Solalinde, sacerdote y defensor de migrantes nominado al Premio Nobel de la Paz. Éste se ha presentado con éxito en México, la FIL de Guadalajara, Guatemala y Estados Unidos. Actualmente colabora con MacArthur Foundation, publica una serie sobre trata de personas apoyada por Thomson Reuters Foundation, escribe su segundo libro y realiza periodismo de investigación freelance sobre migración, derechos humanos, trata y feminicidios. Con estudios en México y España, ha obtenido el Premio Nacional de Locución en dos ocasiones y el primer lugar en Reportaje Televiso y en conducción de Radiorevista en el Concurso Nacional de la RED.

Liah Alonso

Liah Alonso, aka The Gypsy Cowgirl, is a native Californian singer-songwriter and social activist, living out of a guitar case with part-time residences in NYC, Nashville and Mexico. Liah’s dynamic musical style is eclectic and her shows focus around a theme that weaves songs and stories together to engage the audience in an emotional journey. Her sound can be described as one part FOLK (for it’s content and social relevance), POP (catchy, anthemic songs) and WORLD for diversity in instrumentation and world rhythms . Driven by social causes such as Women’s and Immigrant rights and advocacy, Liah sees herself as a musical anthropologist putting melodies to truth’s that need to be brought to life. The Gypsy Cowgirl got her start in music busking in the NYC subway as a founding member of politically-fueled, firebrand acoustic rock duo Left On Red, whom Lucid Culture described as “A vivid reminder how much of an audience there is for accessible pop music that’s not stupid.” The dynamic singer/guitarist writes wickedly catchy, anthemic, lyrically potent songs with a wry sense of humor, capturing the ups and downs of life on the fringes. Raymond Bechard

"Raymond Bechard is an Author, Producer and Human Rights Advocate. For over 25 years he has worked to provide justice, cooperation and equality to people across the globe. Bechard often advises organizations in their mission to bring hope and encouragement to the world. Well known as an outspoken Provocateur, Bechard is credited with writing multiple pieces of successful legislation focusing on human trafficking, forcing Facebook to enact stronger child-safety measures and removing thousands of illicit pages of content from their website, “killing” a Tribune Media publication after it continued to run ads selling illegal “escort” services, and generally making people in power uncomfortable whenever he focuses his resources, writing and public speaking on them. Among hundreds of other writings he is the author of the recently published books, “The Berlin Turnpike: A True Story of Human Trafficking in America,” a close, historical examination of Commercial Sexual Exploitation and its place within all American communities, and “Unspeakable: The Truth Behind the World’s Fastest Growing Crime,” an expose of Child Trafficking in all its forms around the globe.
