In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Amer Ali

Corporate Trainer + Motivational Speaker

A motivational speaker, a certified corporate trainer, a success coach and a TEDx speaker, Amer Ali holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from UET Lahore and has been active in the field of training for more than five years. He is the only Pakistani corporate trainer having international certification in all domains of business, making him an inspiration for all those who strive to reach perfection and more. As an apprentice of Pakistan’s top trainer Qaiser Ali, he has used the skills in various companies and educational institutes. They include Kohinoor Mills Ltd., Engro Foods Ltd., West Point Home, Andritz Hydro, Divisional Public School, Aghar College, Al-Ghazali College of Science etc.

Dr. Ali Jawaid

Neuroscientist + Medical Doctor

Dr. Ali Jawaid is a physician-scientist with training in both clinical and basic neuroscience. He completed his MD-PhD in Neuroscience from Switzerland (simultaneous PhD degrees awarded by UZH/ETH International Program in Neuroscience and UZH MD-PhD program). Dr. Ali Jawaid has worked extensively in the fields of memory, dementia, neurodegenerative disorders, neuroepigenetics, neurodevelopmental disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and addiction. He has authored 56 pubmed publications and two book chapters, and has received awards and honors from multiple academic organizations. He has published in Science, Nature Neuroscience, Neuron and Nature Communications, and has a current H-index of 15 (he has 15 papers, which have been cited at least 15 times). He is also the chair of European MD-PhD association, and is a fiction author outside of scientific work.

Laaleen Sukhera

Author + Consultant

Laaleen Sukhera is a communications consultant and United Nations approved content creator. She is the founder of the Jane Austen Society of Pakistan and has appeared in programs, podcasts, and features including 1843, the BBC, the British Council, Dubai Eye’s Talking of Books, Elle, The Financial Times, Grazia, Harper’s Bazaar, HELLO!, The Times , Vanity Fair and many more! She has also been quoted in The Atlantic, The Economist, and The New York Times. Laaleen creates content for consumer and corporate brands, the development sector, heritage and tourism. Earlier in her career, she worked as a series coordinator and interviewer for ITV’s award-nominated After The Bradford Boil, as a field producer at the Merrill Lynch Video Network, as an account coordinator at M/A Advertising in New York, as a TV producer at Geo TV Lahore, as a public relations consultant in Islamabad, and as the associate editor of Libas International in Lahore.

Maham Elahi

Photographer + Nutrionist

Maham Elahi is an inspiring photographer who is also becoming a nutritionist. She found her passion for photography at a very early age and polished this skill through self directed learning and a course in photography from the New York Film Academy. She has won the LUMS Annual Photography Summit (LAPS) for the past two years. She recently went on the International Study Visit to the United Kingdom where she represented Pakistan for her noteworthy community service project on Autism Awareness. Maham has also served as the Head Girl / Student Body President in Kinnaird College for Women, Lahore in 2019.

Muhammad Jawad Noon

Medical Doctor + Researcher

A medical doctor, a researcher and a scholar at the University of Oxford in Healthcare Intervention and Policy, Muhammad Jawad Noon is recognized as a global leader in healthcare. His works have been published in several renowned journals including the Journal of General Internal Medicine. His works have been given media coverage on platforms such as CNN News and Business Insider UK. Another feather in his cap is the fact that he was the only medical researcher from Pakistan invited to judge the Clinical Vignettes in the 2015 Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting of Society of General Internal Medicine, USA. Additionally, he was among the top 4 candidates to receive the award for most ‘Outstanding Researcher’ at Innovative Youth Awards 2015, organized by Innovative Youth Forum.

Omair Rana

Actor + Theatre Director

Omair Rana is a Pakistani theatre actor, graduated from the London School of Economics in Political Science, who has made a significant contribution in the field of teaching Dramatics Art at a number of institutions, Including introducing IGCSE Drama to Pakistan in 2009. He also directs plays in educational institutes and runs his theatre company by the name of Real Entertainment Productions (REP) that was founded in 2000 and has done over 50 Plays ever since. As a screen actor he has also worked in numerous TV productions and in the film Chambaili and Tamanna. Making his TV debut in 2014, he won a lot of recognition for his performances in drama serials Maan, Sang-e-Mar Mar and O Rangreza. In 2018 he starred in the much anticipated HUM TV's period drama Aangan.

Tughral Ali

MIT Sloan Fellow

Tughral Ali initially started his career as a software engineer from G. I. K. Institute and catered to his diverse interests by pursuing a degree in MBA from Warwick Business School and an M.Sc in Management Studies from MIT, where he was a Sloan Fellow. For eleven years he has worked upon Financial Inclusion using Digital Services. Being part of the team that launched mobile money in Pakistan, he went on to head Micro Insurance in Africa and is now the Head of Asia Pacific for an international Micro Insurance provider. It seems he certainly is a man who has taken over continents. Tughral Ali has been an active participant of those group of people in the world who want to introduce new business ventures that tackle exclusion and inequality.

Zulqarnain Ali Syed

Computer Scientist + Photographer

Zulqernain Ali Syed is a computer scientist who majored in artificial intelligence and decided to not give up on his passion for photography. Through an infusion of art and science, he developed hardware and software solutions for the first time in Pakistan that also helped in promoting various art forms and their significance in the country. He is currently working on his start-up that aims to automate mundane tasks of photography through the extensive use of A.I. and robotics. As a full-time professional photographer, with an extensive experience of eight years, he has also worked with some of the biggest brands in the country. Through active counselling and mentoring, he has trained and inspired many eager minds.
