In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Caroline Kilgallen

Student
As Co President of TEDxOakKnollSchool, Caroline will be presenting her fourth talk. Caroline’s motivated spirit led her to discuss the effects politics have had on the United States. She specifically wants to pursue a career in politics and is searching for a major in college that satisfies this passion. Caroline hopes to convey that every American citizen can make an impact and has the power to make a change in our government. Additionally, Caroline participates in tennis, spring track, Ensemble, Concert Choir, volunteers for Special Olympics, is a member of the Economics Club and attends the On the Pulse current event lunch discussions.

Christy Sieber

Student
Christy Sieber is a Co-President of TEDxOakKnollSchool. This is her fourth year in the club and she is excited to be presenting her last talk about the evolution of collegiate sports. As a recruited athlete, her inspiration comes from her first hand experience in the recruiting process. Christy is a multi-season varsity athlete who plays lacrosse, track and played soccer. She was selected to represent Oak Knoll as a member of the Junior Overlook Foundation Board, where she raised money for the Brain Tumor Center and Movements Disorders Program at Overlook Hospital in Summit.

Emma Burgess

Student
Sophomore Emma will give her first TEDxOakKnollSchool talk today on how runway fashion has evolved throughout time. Emma has always had a passion for fashion and an interest in researching how trends have changed and evolved. Aside from TEDxOakKnollSchool, Emma is on the tennis team, is involved in the Musical, Concert Choir, Lit Mag, and is the social council representative for the tenth grade! Emma’s outgoing and determined personality makes her an excellent addition to TEDxOakKnollSchool.

Isabelle Sykes

Student
As a Co-President of TEDxOakKnollSchool, this will be Isabelle’s fourth talk. Isabelle has always been fascinated with the topic of climate change; however, she has also been discouraged at the enormity of the problem. Isabelle believes climate change is the greatest threat to the world today and learning how the Earth reached this point was imperative for her to discover. In addition, Isabelle plays field hockey and runs winter track. Her kind and loyal personality is something that makes her an amazing leader for TEDxOakKnollSchool.

Juliana Feit

Student
Current junior, Julianna Feit, will be presenting her second talk, where she will blow your mind with her take on the evolution of memories. Her inspiration for this talk comes from how easily her own memories compare to other peoples, even about the same event. Julianna is a member of the soccer team and spring track and field. She participates in a wide array of clubs and activities such as the musical, chemistry league, Catholic math league, Lit Mag and many more

Kaitlin Kramer

Student
Have you ever wondered the effect that technology has on social interaction? Today, Kaitlin Kramer will be speaking about how technology affects the way we socially interact. She chose this topic after noticing how social media and technology can bring people closer together and farther apart. In addition to playing tennis and running track, Kaitlin is the co-president of the economics club, a member of FBLA and the science team. A fun fact about Kaitlin is that she was an extra on an episode of Law and Order SVU.

Olivia Gaston

Student
Olivia, a junior, will be making her TEDxOakKnollSchool debut today to discuss ‘The Evolution of Mindsets.’ Olivia was inspired to explore this topic because she has always been interested in the brain, and understanding the process of constant progression in the human mind. Outside of TEDxOakKnollSchool, Olivia is a member of the fencing team, FBLA, the yearbook, and the vice president of SHADES (to name a few). Ironically, Olivia has a fear of public speaking; however, with her bubbly personality and confidence, that fear will be no more after today!

Sabina Criqui

Student
Sabina has been a member of the TedxOakKnollSchool Club for four years and is presenting her final talk today. Besides TEDxOakKnollSchool, she is a dedicated member of the soccer team, campus ministry council and is the co-president of the Caring for Kids Club. Sabina will share changes in American consumerism, including the effects that “big box” stores have on small businesses and solutions to this on going issue. Sabina’s funny and trustworthy attitude will be missed at next year’s club meetings!
