In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Demetrius Glover

Influencer
Hailing from the south side of Chicago, Demetrius Glover always knew he wanted to be an entrepreneur. At the young age of 7, he began shining shoes for money, and by the time he was 14, he was topping ice cream cones at the local Dairy Queen. Feelings of depression, anxiety and helplessness consumed his mind before he could truly begin his journey of self-discovery as a young man in middle America. After graduating college, he attained a well-paying but mentally-unfulfilling job in the Chicago suburbs. Knowing there was more to life, Demetrius took a leap in faith and moved to the Big Apple in 2016 to achieve his 18-year-old dream of becoming an entrepreneur. Still bound by a daily drug addiction that met homelessness, it took a life-changing hospital visit to manifest the shift he needed. While Demetrius was fearing for his life, his inner conqueror was also being birthed. Now, Demetrius is on a mission to bring the best out of himself and others through honesty and vulnerability.
