Aliise Eisho Donnere

Educator

Born in Latvia, was raised in a bilingual environment. She owned her PhD from Tohoku University in 2018. Being a Buddhist (Tendai school), she now shares her passion for linguistics as a lecturer at Tohoku Gakuin University. She is passionate about music, literature, and travels (prefers travelling on foot or by bicycle), she thrives in the fields of religion, politics, and anthropology. 2つの言語が飛び交う環境、ラトビアで育った。2018年東北大学で博士号を取得。仏教徒である彼女は、現在東北学院大学で講師を務め、言語学の面白さを広めている。他にも音楽・文学・旅行(徒歩や自転車での旅行を好みとする)などに情熱をかけ、宗教学・政治学・人類学の分野で活躍している。

Danyal Ahmed

Architect

Danyal's research focuses on the relationship between contemporary Japanese architecture and the emerging technology of artificial intelligence, with an aim of implementation of research findings in his architectural designs. Having professional affiliations with Architectural Institute of Japan, Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners and Institute of Architects Pakistan, his architectural design was recently selected among the Emerging Young Architects Design Work’s Exhibition held at the 12th International Symposium on Architectural Interchanges in South Korea. 東北大学 工学研究科 都市建築学専攻 後期博士課程。日本の現代建築と人工知能の関係性についての研究を行い、その結果を自身 の建築設計に反映させている。日本建築学会、Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners(パキスタン建築家・都市計画家会議)、Institute of Architects Pakistan(パキスタン建築家協会)に所属する。2018年10月に韓国の平昌で開催された第12回アジアの建築交流国際シンポジウムでは、新進気鋭の若手建築家の作品を展示する Emerging Young Architects Design Work’s Exhibition に選ばれた。

Dennis Chia

An avid language learner and traveller, Dennis went to all 47 prefectures of Japan during his first four years in Japan. Having established an extensive social network consisting of educational personnel, craftsman, politicians, celebrities, entrepreneurs and designers, Dennis started his own social business with the aim of reevaluating the charms of rural Japan and finding solutions for the multitude of problems faced in rural Japan. He is currently building a new community of international students and working professionals to contribute to Japan’s revitalization movement. With the knowledge and experience accumulated in Japan, Dennis wishes to contribute to creating a sustainable future in the world. 旅行大好きな言語オタク。来日して4年間で 47 都道府県を制覇したデニスは教育関係者、職人、政治家、起業家、デザイナー、芸能界等幅広い人脈を持つ。地域の魅力を再発掘すると同時に、少子高齢化が進む日本の各地域が直面している課題解決に励んでいる。自身の人脈を活かし、日本に住んでいる外国人や国際的な背景を持つ感度の高い日本人と共に新しいコミュニティ構築に力を注いでいる。日本で得た知識や経験を活かし、世界にも通用する持続可能な社会作りに貢献することを目標に活動している。

Evelyn Marie Gutiérrez

A Tohoku University PhD student in Pharmaceutical Sciences, who is currently studying population pharmacogenomics, Evelyn Marie Gutierrez Rico was born and raised in Guatemala, a multi-ethnic country. This inspired her to study genetics which eventually lead her to Japan. After witnessing the damaging effects of harassment she was inspired to take action and has successfully built several harassment programs for students in need of counseling. Currently, she is the co-founder of ITGT, a Guatemalan IT company that promotes healthy learning environments as well as next step thinking - presently developing a harassment counseling platform directed at university students. 東北大学薬学部博士課程に所属し、ゲノム薬理学の研究を行っている。多民族国家であるグアテマラで生まれ育ったことがきっかけで遺伝学を学び始め、後に来日する事となった。また、ハラスメントによる悪影響を目の当たりにした彼女は、カウンセリングを必要とする学生に対するハラスメントプログラムを複数設立した。現在彼女はグアテマラの IT企業である ITGT の共同創立者となり、健康的な学習環境を促進するだけでなく、大学生に対してハラスメントのコンサルティングを行う基盤を構築しようとしている。

MIchael McCullough

Landscape Architect, Designer

Michael McCullough has a background in landscape architecture and sustainable design. His education has led him into a career of entrepreneurship both in the commercial and non-profit sectors. His work has a strong emphasis on the human connection to nature through school educational programs with a focus on science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. He is also engaged in research related to archaeological mapping for water quality improvement and landcover analysis to understand relationships between landscape features and student behaviors in schools. 景観設計とサステイナブル・デザインに精通し、様々な企業と非営利組織でキャリアを形成してきた。科学・工学・芸術そして数学に重きをおいた学校教育プログラムを通じて、人間と自然との結びつきの大切さを人々に伝えている。また水質の向上のための考古学的マッピングと土地被覆分析の研究に携わり、景観的特徴と学生の行動の関連性を解明している。

Michinoku YOSAKOI THE!! Kubaran

YOSAKOI is a style of dance where people dance to traditional folk songs that originates from Kochi prefecture. THE!! Kubaran’s 22nd work called “Re-make” illustrates the process through which a transformed raccoon dog works hard to gain self-confidence. Performed by students from Sendai 仙台市の学生を中心に活動している団体です。10月に仙台で行われるみちのくYOSAKOIまつりを1番に盛り上げることを目的として活動しています. よさこいとは、高知県を発祥とする、地域の民謡を取り入れた踊りです。THE!!駆波“乱22代目の作品は“狸-make”、憧れを抱く化け狸が努力を重ね、自信を抱く姿を描いた作品です。

Mina Konaka

Student

A master student majoring in Aerospace Engineering at Tohoku University. Through her studies abroad at the University of California Davis, International Space University, and the Technical University of Berlin, she learned to understand various approaches of the space industry in Japan, Europe and the United States. She also developed a keen interest in lunar rover and satellite systems through her research at the university. 東北大学宇宙探査工学分野前期修士課程。カリフォルニア大学デービス校、国際宇宙大学、Technical University of Berlin への留学を通して、日本、ヨーロッパ、アメリカにおける様々な宇宙産業に対するアプローチを学んだ。大学の研究を通し、月面探査ローバーや衛星のシステムについて学ぶ。

Mollika Sajady

Pediatrician

Mollika Sajady is a board-certified pediatrician in the United States and is currently completing an additional academic fellowship in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. Her clinical interests include connecting children to nature and promoting preventative medicine and wellness approaches to improve the quality of life for children and families. Her research efforts focus on using nature-based interventions in clinical and educational settings, as well as applying landscape data to examine associations of greenery with mental health and well-being. モリカ・サジャディはアメリカ合衆国の一般小児科医であり、現在ミネソタ大学で発達行動小児科学のフェローシップを専攻している。子どもとその家族の生活の質を向上させるために、子どもを自然に触れさせ、予防医学を取り入れることで良好な健康状態を促進させている。臨床と教育において自然の介入に力を入れており、風景データを活用して、緑に囲まれることとメンタルヘルスや健康との関係を解明している。

Robin Lewis

Entrepreneur, Consultant

Robin is Co-founder & Director of Social Innovation Japan - a platform for social action. He is also a consultant at the World Bank, where he specialises on issues related to climate change and natural disasters. His work has spanned over 20 countries, from clean water projects in Haiti to post-earthquake recovery in Nepal. Robin, born to a Japanese mother and a British father, is passionate about tackling social and environmental challenges and loves going for long walks. In 2017, he took on a sponsored expedition, walking 600+km along Japan’s disaster-affected coastline to document the recovery from the 2011 tsunami and Fukushima nuclear crisis. ロビンは Social Innovation Japan (社会活動用プラットフォーム)の共同創業者。また、彼は世界銀行のコンサルタントであり気候変動や自然災害に関わる課題が専門。ハイチの水質浄化企画やネパール震災以降の復興等、彼の活動は 20 カ国で実施されている。父は英国人、母は日本人で、社会と環境の問題に熱心に取り組んでいる。彼は 2017年に、協賛のもと、沿岸部に位置する東日本大震災被災地 600 km以上の距離に渡る地域で、大震災と福島第一原発事故からの復興を記録した.

Sherif Rashad

Neurosurgeon

Sherif graduated from Alexandria University school of medicine in 2008. Started Neurosurgical training in 2010 and became a specialist neurosurgeon in 2014. After that moved to Sendai to acquire a PhD degree. In 2018 became an Assistant professor at Tohoku University. Research interests include molecular neuroscience, metabolomics, cerebrovascular diseases, and cerebral hemodynamics. 2008年アレキサンドリア大学医学部(エジプト)を卒業。2010年から脳神経外科専門医取得のトレーニングを始め、2014年に脳神経外科の専門医 になった。その後、来日し東北大学博士課程に進学。2018年東北大学の准教授になり、 現在は分子神経科学、代謝学、脳血管疾患と脳の血行動態について様々な研究に携わっている。

Swastika Harsh Jajoo

Swastika likes to think that she can be found in some quaint cafe with a really cool vibe socializing over a glass of red wine. Usually, though, she’s found at the tea stall around the corner drinking chai far too carefully because she’s afraid she’ll spill it on her copy of No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai. Aside from being a full-time chai drinker who makes self-proclaimed articulate observations on her love for the color yellow, she also enjoys writing poetry. She was selected to work as an official blogger for the Jaipur Literature Festival, and won the second prize in a contest organized by Tata Steel. スワスティカはレトロな雰囲気の喫茶店で赤ワイン飲みながら人と会話する自分を想像することが好きだ。しかし実際の彼女はいつも喫茶店の隅で、太宰治の「人間失格」の本を汚してしまわないかととても慎重になりながらチャイを飲んでいる。日本の外務省からの奨学金を得て、彼女は 2019年4月に東北大学に入学した。自身の明晰な観察により黄色が大好きな彼女は、根っからのチャイ好きに加えて詩を書くことを楽しみの一つとしている。2019年の1月にJaipur Literature Festival の公式トップブロガーに選ばれ、同月に Tata Steel 社のコンテストで第2位を受賞した。
