About this event
The theme of this TEDx event is centered around the theme of innovation and contribution to society. It revolves mainly around the new generation of the UAE, and the significant development they have gone through to reach the level they are currently at. The speakers will explain how they turned their dreams into reality; through perseverance, innovation and hard work. They will prove how one can make a difference and contribute to society no matter what path they choose.

DEEMALBASSAM & SARAFALAKNAZ
Two young leading entrepreneurs of our generation, so passionate about their dreams and such an inspiration to the young generation to progress on their same path. Deem Al Bassam the Saudi originated young lady; founder of Switch restaurant and lounge, has been given the chance to practice her solid knowledge in retail management, marketing and design. Along with her is the energetic and enthusiastic UAE national Sara Falaknaz, an Executive Director at Dubai Holding, and the organizer of ‘Startup Weekend Dubai’. -
MAJIDALQASSIMI
Majid Al Qassimi qualified as a doctor of veterinary medicine at Saint Istvan University in Budapest, Hungary. Al Qassimi currently works at Al-Ain Zoo in Abu Dhabi as an assistant associate veterinarian. He is involved in raising awareness on the issues of endangered animals and the environment as he sees nature as our oldest teacher. A keen advocate of education, he believes that knowledge and transparency are vital foundations for the next generation of Emiratis. He feels it is important to build strong communications amongst the communities for a lasting sustainable future. -
MARWAALSHAIBANI
Marwa Al Shaibani is a student at Zayed University doing her bachelors of Arts and Sciences in International Affairs and a minor in Communication. In the summer of 2010, she founded the group “Young Eager Steps” and through this group she learned that no matter how good your intentions are, you always face difficulties, and that without faith, hard work, and trust in your teammates you will accomplish nothing. Marwa believes in making a difference, and believes in change. She also believes that if at least one person looks up to her, she has to be a good role model to that one person. It doesn’t matter if you are a boy or a girl, young or old you have the ability to become a leader and you have the power to inspire. She picked her path in volunteerism and community service, but the rules are the same for any direction you choose to take. -
MARIAMALOMAIRA
Mariam Al Omaira is a graduate from the American University of Sharjah with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations. Currently working in a government entity in Abu Dhabi as an Associate in the department of economics and energy. She’s always been passionate about sports mainly football and have always been in sports teams since school. Al Omaira is an advocate for women involvement in football and has therefore started an initiative under the name of IRADA to open up the opportunity for women to play and compete within the boundaries of culture and tradition. She believes every individual has the potential to make a positive change in our society and my goal is to bring life to women football in the country. -

GHADEERABEIDOH & SAMEERABEIDOH
Ghadeer & Sameer Abeidoh are passionate and professional musicians, looking for a bright future in the field of music. They both hold diploma degrees in their own instruments, as Ghadeer plays the piano, and Sameer plays the violin. During this performance, they will be playing their own compositions. These compositions carry both scents of jazz and Oriental music as a stylistic fusion that encompasses bits of improvisations that add to the freedom the pieces show off. Both originally Palestinian, Ghadeer is 20 years old, and Sameer is 15 years old, born to a family of arts. -
KHALIDALAWAR
Khalid Al Awar is a 23-year-old Visual Communication student at Zayed Univeristy. Khalid studied Film Production in Canada for 3 years and is in the process of producing and writing a few short animated films. Khalid also is the president of the first Male Student Council at Zayed University – Dubai. Khalid was part of the organizing committee of Majid Bin Mohammed Youth Media Award 2011 and has worked in the Private Office of HHS Majid bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum as a project executive. He is now currently employed at JAFZA as a Public Relations Coordinator. -
KHALIFABINHENDI
Binhendi is a student at Cass Business School-City University of London, along with the team he founded the charitable foundation ‘1971’. A 20years old Emirati who's leading a business and social entrepreneurial way of life, equipped by a strong philanthropic vision. Khalifa believes that business and social entrepreneurship must coexist. Binhendi had experienced the work at UAE’s Prime Minister's Office and Dubai International Airport. He always had the dream of creating a charitable foundation to give hands to the misfortunate people around the UAE and the World. Khalifa believes that being a philanthropist is all about giving back what the country and its people gave him earlier, no matter how much time or money you would give, it will still count because every little helps. He works with a strong passion for charitable works amongst the destitute of UAE, as the leaders of UAE taught every Emirati. -
MEERAALSIRI & FATMAALGHAITH
Meera Al Siri and Fatma Al Ghaith are two of ZU’s top CCMS graduates, both are the co-founders of Boum app. Both girls have always worked closely together; they are both Creative PR & Advertising majors. Both girls were the first and youngest to receive an award at the Arabian Business Achievement 2011, they were named 'Young Achievers of the year 2011". Boum is a mobile application based on user content that will allow people to experience the U.A.E from local users. Boum will be a tool that will be used to transport ideas, photos, comments and reviews of users to other users as well as in sharing views on destinations and hot-spots all around the UAE.
