“The Rebel” (the person) and “To Rebel” (the act) are closely tied with youth. This event is youth-focused and youth-driven, which will shine the light on many different aspects of rebellion- it’s positive contribution to society, and changes that lead the way in the community.
The theme of Rebel has been present in the news and the hot topic of discussion for a few months now. TIME Magazine’s person of the year was the protester. Uprises in Egypt, Syria, Libya, have led to overthrown governments and a change in the status quo. New technologies can be an act of rebellion (SOPA and MegaUpload), it is a great resource for people looking to rebel and it’s growth is exponential. All these things and more are converging at this time and it’s for a reason.
TEDxYouth@Mississauga is looking to explore those reasons.
On a local level, and an international level.
