In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Adelola Edema

Adelola Edema is an Educationist, passionate about children with special needs. She believes that with the right kind of education, such children can be successful, regardless of the limitations the disorders pose. Since 2009, she has worked with children and teenagers with autism, Down syndrome, Cerebral palsy, Microcephaly, and other learning disabilities. Adelola who holds a B.Sc. in Education Biology from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in Nigeria, is certified by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) as an Autism Specialist. She is currently studying for her Master’s in Education (Innovation in Teaching and Learning) at the University of South Wales, United Kingdom. Adelola currently supports children with special needs in mainstream schools, trains teachers on effective teaching strategies for children with autism in mainstream classrooms and creates autism awareness on social media and through her blog, www.adelolaonautism.blogspot.com. She is the Convener of the Special Needs Conference in Nigeria (SNC), which is organized to teach the society how to engage people with special needs in their community. They have held the Special Needs Conference for Churches and Educators, and Special Needs Conference on Vocational Skills Development.

Adewale Ajadi

Qualified Lawyer with Masters in International Business Economics. Pioneered Global Diversity Framework and Standard. Designed and developed Crowd Source Strategy for Pastoralist across 8 countries in East Africa for IGAD. Has specialised in Complexity and on behalf of Synergos in Nigeria pioneered systems approach to Agricultural Transformation from the State level. Was involved in pioneering efforts to use the Rule of Law as a Counter Terrorism Solution for USIP, led efforts on behalf of the US State Department to guide non-violent solutions in the Niger Delta. He is a Panel Member of the Queens Award for Higher Education and holds a Honorary MBA from De Montfort University in England. aside for being a consultant and leadership educator, he is the Author of Omoluwabi 2.0 ' A code of transformation in 21st century Nigeria'. He is also a Playwright , Husband and Father of three Men . Grandfather of Fiyifoluwa.

Megan Chapman

Megan Chapman is co-director/co-founder of Justice & Empowerment Initiatives (JEI), a human rights organization that works hand-in-hand with urban poor communities to build bottom-up accountability and community-led justice and development solutions. Her vision for JEI's blend of legal empowerment and community mobilization was born in rural Cameroon and refined in South Africa's townships, before it took root in Nigeria where she has worked since 2011. Through her work with a wide variety of international and domestic human rights and development organizations, Megan has helped to build community-based paralegal programs in Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Uganda. She has led and supported strategic human rights litigation in Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, and Burundi. In Nigeria, she has sought sustainable ways to bring these skills to directly serve and benefit the urban poor. Megan holds a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law (summa cum laude), where she received a full-tuition public interest scholarship and served as the co-Editor-in-Chief of the Human Rights Brief. She holds a B.A. in history from University of Chicago (high distinction).

Obinwanne Okeke

Obinwanne Okeke is a Nigerian businessman, investment expert and philanthropist— with a passion for supporting educational initiatives in Africa. He is a 2016 Forbes 30 Under 30 Alumnus and described as one of Africa’s most promising entrepreneurs. He’s a contributor for Forbes.com where he shares his thoughts on entrepreneurship and investment in Africa. Obinwanne is the CEO of Invictus Group of Companies5 and the Director of the South African-based Investment Company, Amani Brothers. In 2017, he was nominated for Africa’s most prestigious award for businessmen, The AABLA Awards in the category of Young African Business Leader (West Africa). He was one of the 2018 Speakers at the London School of Economics (LSE) Africa Summit, and has been interviewed on BBC. His business interest spans across a variety of sectors including renewable energy, real estate and construction.

Ola Brown

Dr Ola Brown is a medical doctor, a trainee helicopter pilot and an entrepreneur who founded West Africa’s first indigenous air ambulance service, the Flying Doctors Nigeria which saves hundreds of lives across the region every year especially in the oil and gas industry, rendering medical evacuation services. She is extremely passionate about healthcare in Africa and works with various businesses, charities and governments to improve standards of healthcare. Dr Ola studied medicine and surgery at the Hull York Medical School after which she worked in Acute Medicine in the UK. She then went on to be awarded the Japanese MEXT scholarship which allowed her to further her studies in Tokyo, Japan. Her post-graduate areas of study include Pre-hospital Emergency care, Healthcare leadership and Healthcare delivery. She has a certificate in Economic policy making from IE business school, Spain and a certificate in Accounting for decision making from the University of Michigan in the United States. Along with two other directors, Dr Ola runs leading early stage venture capital firm, Greentree investment company which provides growth capital to some of Africa’s most exciting tech start-up’s. She has published three books ‘EMQ’s in Paediatrics’, ‘Pre-Hospital Care for Africa’ and ‘Fixing Healthcare in Nigeria; a guide to healthcare policy. She has also written articles in the British Medical Journal, the Journal of Emergency Medical Services, the Niger Delta Medical Journal, the New York Times and the Huffington Post. She is an international speaker who has spoken at the TED global conference, the European Union, the Swiss Economic Forum, the UN, the World Bank, the World Economic Forum, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge University and the Aspen Ideas Festival. Dr Ola and her work have been featured by CNN,the BBC, Forbes and Al-Jazeera. She has also received multiple awards and nominations. These include the Mouldbreaker’s Award, the THIS Day Award, The Future Award as entrepreneur of the year, New Generation Leader for Africa, Ladybrille Personality of the month, Silverbird entrepreneurship award, Nigerian Aviation personality of the year award and Vanguard WOW Awards. She is also a TED fellow, an Aspen Fellow and has been honored by the world economic forum as a Young Global Leader. She is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, international editor of the Journal of Emergency Services and a LinkedIn top ten global Healthcare Writer.

Studied International Public Management at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, with over 10 years of health management experience with the Department For International Development (DFID) program, World Health Organization, UNDP, and the Lagos State Government. In 2014, she was listed by the BBC as one of the 100 Women changing the world and was also recognized as an African Innovator by Quartz Africa and the World Economic Forum.
