These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Mr Anil Lamba

Bestselling author, financial literacy activist, and an international corporate trainer, Dr Anil Lamba is a practising Chartered Accountant and holds degrees in Commerce, Law and a Doctorate in Taxation. Dr Anil Lamba's training programs are held internationally, with a client list exceeding 1000 large and mediumsized corporations spread across several countries including India, the USA, and in Europe, the Middle-East and the Far-East. He has conceptualized, and is actively engaged in the implementation of, ‘Financial Literacy for All’, a movement towards creating a financially intelligent India. With over two decades of experience in training and consulting in finance, Dr Anil Lamba has created and developed a series of training videos titled 'Figure Out the World of Figures’, and has done pioneering work in distance education and e-learning. He has also written several books and over one thousand articles. His latest book, ‘Romancing the Balance Sheet’ is currently making waves.

Mr Drew McCreadie

Drew McCreadie, born 1967, is a Vancouver, British Columbia-based actor, playwright and improvisor. He was the winner of Best Male Improvisor in Canada at the 2007 Canadian Comedy Awards.His play The Cat Who Ate Her Husband was first performed in Vancouver by Ruby Slipper Theatre Company,and won two Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards for best new script and best play.Ruby Slippers Theatre Company also produced his Christmas farce The Hotel Bethlehem in December 2011, 2012 & 2013.

Mr Madhavan

Madhavan, a social photographer and alternative photography artist educated in Paris and New York. As an Indian Foundation for Arts (IFA) fellow working and experimenting with the art of daguerreotype in India, P Madhavan’s social images are widely exhibited in the public spaces all over the world. Madhavan has taught photography to the under-privileged children in India and has a credit of conducting more than 300 successful workshops (In association with Plan International, Christian Children Fund, and DFID). Under the aegis of these workshops, around 2000 children and youth have been trained in social photography.

Mr Vijay Karthikeyan

A 2011 batch IAS officer with a medical degree, Dr Karthikeyan said he is excited about the opportunity that has been bestowed upon him. "I would look at speedy implementation of schemes in the city," he told DC. He passed out of Ramachandra Medical College in 2009 and was posted as assistant collector (training) at Erode and sub-collector at Kovilpatti before his appointment as corporation commissioner of Coimbatore. He is the son of additional principal chief conservator of forest, Mr R. Kannan.

Mr Padmanaban Gopalan

Padmanaban Gopalan is like Robin Hood. The 22-year-old social entrepreneur, a student of Government College of Technology, has sparked off a movement in the city, called No Food Waste (NFW). His team is a 10-member brigade of agile youngsters, who zip around the city in their omni van. They hunt for marriage halls, homes and institutions that have excess food, which they collect and quickly dispatch to the poor and the needy.

Mr Satheesh Namasivayam

Satheesh Namasivayam is a co-founder of MindVISA. Satheesh has over 15 years of management consulting experience across US, Europe, Latin America and Asia. He advises senior management of Fortune 500 companies on leadership, business strategy, and cross-cultural strategies. His recent book “Leading without Licence” was placed in the business best-sellers by Business Standard, an Indian national daily. Satheesh is a visiting faculty member at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, one of India’s premier engineering schools, where he teaches a course entitled “Discovering how to Lead”. He has trained German youth – traveling to India on German-government-funded program called “Weltwarts” – on cross-cultural adaptation. Satheesh is passionate about travel, and has traveled in over 50 countries. He has been a guest speaker at prominent international institutions. Satheesh was awarded a Masters degree from Harvard University with majors in Economics and Leadership. He also received an MBA and MS from Arizona State University. Earlier, he graduated with a BS in engineering from National Institute of Technology, Trichy, India.

A standard X student of Park Global School here, Vaishnavi has received various awards and titles including "Yoga Rani" and "Yoga Natchathra" and "Young Achiever Award" from India Yoga Association and Government of Tamil Nadu.Coimbatore girl Vaishnavi shone in the first Asia level yoga competition in Thailand recently by winning two gold medals in the junior category (13 to 15 years) and the overall championship. She had given over 1,000 performances and won more than 200 gold medals, including 60 in national-level yoga competitions held at Kochi, Gujarat and Bengaluru among other places.

Vandana Srinivasan

Vandana began training in the Carnatic Classical music at an early age from her Guru, Mrs. Seetha Krishnan till she finished high school. She moved to Madras, India, in 2006 to major in Psychology at Women's Christian College (University of Madras). Here, she trained in the Hindustani Classical music under her Guru, Mrs. Tanushree Saha. She moved to London in 2009 to pursue a postgraduate degree in Organizational & Social Psychology from the London School of Economics & Political Science. She was exposed to various musical influences in London and she particularly enjoyed exploring Bangla music. Following her return to Madras in early 2011, she is currently establishing herself as an independent musician and a playback singer. [1] She runs her collaboration initiative - Musicalorie Pruductions- and is actively involved in working with different artists. Vandana is married to Anand Pattathil, a business man from Cochin and is settled in Chennai.
