In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Cooper Breus

Cooper is in 9th Grade at Chadwick and has lived all over the United States during his lifetime. He is very outgoing, loves meeting new people, and enjoys playing poker and water polo. His favorite subject in school is theater, because he feels it’s fun to explore your own emotions and how to "fake things." Cooper is also interested in writing music and cites the New Yorker as a major influence.

David Malone

David loves languages. He speaks English and Spanish fluently, and is currently learning French. He first found Esperanto on the website Duolingo while improving his French. The more research he did the more interesting he found Esperanto. He believes in the benefits of learning Esperanto and other foreign languages and hopes to learn and speak as many languages as he can in the future. The video clip shown during the talk is a short excerpt of “The One Show” first broadcasted on January 11, 2010 on BBC One, which holds the copyright thereto.

Lauren Tong

Seeing the increasing pressures of college-acceptance unfold around her, Lauren Tong, a junior at Chadwick School, addresses the unhealthy causes and effects of the "college craze" that not only plagues on students but parents as well.

Lynn Kim

GyeLim (Lynn) Kim is a junior at Chadwick School. She has always been an inquisitive thinker who questions in a deep level. Lynn was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea and her creative and innovative mindset has expanded as she has experienced many challenges in diverse environments. She is a bilingual who is interested in how language can affect interpersonal relationships and human lives. She is an active member of the Chadwick community as she is a member of MUN advisory board and created her own Read Globally Club, which is related to her TEDx Talk of language learning. As an aspiring scientist, Lynn is fascinated with the recent development in machine translators through advancement in computer science and furthermore suggests that we should embrace this new development to our daily lives.

Mark Wang

Mark is a senior at Chadwick School and presents an interesting insight into how we can break barriers.

Patrick Wallace

With a deep love of learning and public speaking, Patrick is a faculty member and leader of MUN at Chadwick School. He teaches Economics and History to 10th and 12th graders. Though he loves all sports, his favorite activity is attending USC football games with his father and brother. Patrick’s love of comedy shows through in his wonderful sense of humor. He also enjoys investing and collecting art, with Banksy being his favorite artist. Patrick loves to travel and has visited over 50 countries on 6 continents. For his next great adventure, he has his sights set on Antarctica.

Taesun Shim

Taesun Shim is a junior at Chadwick School. Born in South Korea, he currently lives in the United States. Concerned with both countries' growing addiction to instant gratification, he sheds light on the phenomenon and demonstrates its drawbacks. Taesun draws from personal experience, as he has been personally affected as well, realizing that his passion for photography had turned into an unhealthy obsession over the ultimate photograph, instead of the enjoying experience.
