Astacianna Hatcher

Astacianna Hatcher is a dedicated conservation biologist. She travels to remote corners of the globe to investigate the health of ecosystems and measure their unique biodiversity. She does this primarily by monitoring local bird populations by ear. Stacey Astacianna listens to the songs and chirps around her, then notes what species she hears. Generally she is immersed in dense tropical forests for weeks at time, fine-tuning her ear across thousands of hectares day after day. This information is passed on to other scientists to help develop conservation and ecosystem restoration plans. She states that the simple act of standing still and listening allows her connect with the world and new dimensions are revealed.
