Now in its second year, TEDxOakKnollSchool chose to explore the concept of power in many aspects. From the power of film to the power of curiosity to the power of college and even to the power of Beyoncé (and many more), each of the thirteen presenters chose topics for which they are passionate and cultivated several insightful and unique talks. The program is entirely student-run by a diligent team of producers and presenters who were selected in September to dedicate time both in and outside of meetings to ensure another successful event.

Augusta Imperatore

Student
Augusta is a junior who is presenting for the second time at TEDxOakKnollSchool. Her topic this year, “The Power of College”, certainly strikes a personal chord as she makes her way through the intensity of junior year with participation in the tennis, forensics, and lacrosse teams as well as GLEE Club and BOLD Youth Ministry. She juggles her many activities with ease and is a solid addition to the TEDx community.

Caroline Kilgallen

Student
Caroline loves to travel, aspires to be a lawyer, and aside from participation on the field hockey, track, and swimming teams she volunteers at the Valerie Fund and looks to TED as an outlet to enhance her public speaking skills.

Christy Sieber

Student
Christy is a conscientious and easy-going young woman who feels most comfortable in math class, baking, boating, or taking the field in her club and high school lacrosse teams, OKS track team, and OKS soccer team.

Curran Stockton

Student
A TEDx veteran, Curran, now a junior, is ready to give her fourth TEDx talk. Curran is active in student government, tennis, ice hockey, and BOLD Youth Ministry and is known to bring laughter and diligence into all that she does.

Emma Saheed

Student
In efforts to conquer her fear of public speaking, junior Emma has emerged from behind the curtains (she was a TEDx producer last year) to share with the world the development of her topic, “The Power of Passion”. A self-proclaimed optimist, Emma brings her cheer into her many extracurriculars including the field hockey and softball teams as well as the school newspaper, "Untucked", and the school musical.

Emma Shirkey

Student
Emma is a junior who is ecstatic to be giving her second TEDx talk, and her topic of choice this year is “The Power of Sisterhood”. As a member of OKS’ own cross country and golf teams as well as Light the Candle and Photo Club, Emma spreads her meticulous, loving, and hardworking demeanor to multiple aspects of the Oak Knoll community.

Isabelle Sykes

Izzy is making her official TEDx debut as a freshman after having been an understudy during OKS’ inaugural year of the club. Her talk on underdogs in sports is perhaps drawn from her own athletic experiences; she shines in the pool swimming and in the field hockey net goalkeeping for OKS.

Kaela Basmajian

One of the more cultured members of our TEDx community (having lived in 13 houses in several states) Meghan embarks on every new experience with her contagious smile and keen work ethic.

Sabina Criqui

Now a sophomore, Sabina is ready to give her second talk with TEDxOakKnollSchool. A skilled athlete, Sabina plays soccer and basketball for Oak Knoll and hopes to one day pursue a career in sports. She is a fun-loving and level-headed young woman who is an excellent addition to TEDx!

Sophia Hlavaty

While Sophia may be the youngest speaker as an eighth grader, she has undoubtedly earned her place as a strong member of the TEDx community. With travel premier soccer, taekwondo, violin, dance, skiing, and writing all avid interests of hers, Sophia is certainly one well-rounded individual.
