In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Linas Kalvaitis
Linas Kalvaitis was born in California in 1968. After living in Europe for 5 years, he returned to the United States with his family in 1976. After studying mathematics as an undergraduate, he travelled to the USSR to teach politics, where he witnessed the collapse of the largest State in history. After studying Human Evolutionary Ecology at the University of New Mexico, he moved to the jungles of Kaua'i to explore nature and consciousness. He went on to teach at various colleges and universities in the Northeast. He has travelled to 35 countries and helped deliver all three of his own children.Organizing team
