In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Adam Aresty

Originally from the great state of New Jersey, Adam is a graduate of Gill St. Bernard's School. Encouraged by many teachers at GSB, Adam found his passion for writing and film making, and went on to attend film school at The University of Southern California. He has published several short stories as well as two short novels. The horror comedy STUNG, which he wrote the screenplay for, made its premier at The Tribeca Film Festival in April 2015. STUNG is now available to stream on Netflix. Adam currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife Holly and their awesome dog, Ace. In his TEDx Talk, Adam examines the role transitions play in the arts.

Alex Schachne

Alex Schachne is a student at Gill St. Bernard's School in NJ, class of '18. He is a varsity basketball player and self-taught musician. Alex is very interested in the sources of motivation and success.

Chris Liu

Chris Liu is a student at Blair Academy, NJ, class of '18. Chris has a long-standing interest in the power of imagination. That interest led her to Star Trek fandom, with a particular appreciation for Mr. Spock.

Emily Choi

Emily Choi is a student at Blair Academy in NJ, class of '17. She is an international student from Korea and has become very interested in issues concerning immigrants from Central and South America.

Gareth Patterson

Gareth Patterson is a student at Blair Academy, class of '18. He is fascinated with space exploration and not surprisingly holds Carl Sagan in especially high esteem.

Helen Mercedes

Helen Mercedes is a student at Blair Academy, class of '18. She is interested in issues that connect race and gender. In particular, an awareness of image portrayal as exemplified by the hashtag BlackGirlMagic has caught her attention.

Helena Digney

Helena Digney is a student at Gill St. Bernard's School, class of '18. She has particular interests in fantasy and science fiction. Marvel action heroes and Harry Potter are among her favorite characters. Helena counts her conversation with Stan Lee as a special memory in her life.

Patrick Reilly

Patrick Reilly is a student at Gill St. Bernard's School, class of '17. He is involved in a variety of school activities ranging from theater to History Bowl. As a hobbyist, board games attract his attention; he has a special place in his heart for Monopoly.
