In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Catherine Storing

Life Stylist
Catherine was born and raised in the Dominican Republic; an island of beautiful beaches, friendly people and gorgeous women with dangerous curves. Growing up, she was constantly reminded that she did not look like everyone else. She was too tall, too skinny, not curvy enough, and my hair was ‘too curly.’ Every single day she wished she could be accepted just as she was. Catherine specializes in helping mostly women, and a few brave men, to look good from the inside out so they can pursue what they have been called to do.

Czarr D Freeman III

Student
Czarr is originally from Brockton, MA, where he has lived his entire life. He is a first generation Liberian-American raised in a very large family with a very strong family oriented culture. Now a senior at Bridgewater State University with a major in philosophy, Czarr came to college knowing that he wanted to pursue philosophy and was blessed to discover a love for the study that has brought him to hold a new appreciation for its value. Over the past few years he has tried to put his hands in everything he could get involved with. For example, he has served as the President of the African Student Association, an International Orientation Leader, and even worked alongside the administration that created ties to another country for more study abroad opportunities. His intention is to become a professor of philosophy and to re-inspire analytical thought into the minds of a generation that has seemed to have lost an appreciation for its value.

Kevin McNamara

Student
Kevin is from Abington, Massachusetts and started school at Bridgewater State University in 2012. Serving in the army reserves, Kevin left Bridgewater State University for three semesters for his combat tour in Afghanistan. During that tour, he worked as a military police office assisting in training of the Afghan National Army. Coming home as a twenty year old combat veteran he gained a new perspective on the world, what it means to lead and be a part of a brotherhood. Kevin still serves in the army reserves while attending school here and was recently elected president of his fraternity, Phi Kappa Theta. Kevin is a political science and criminal justice major and will graduate in spring 2017 and will continue to pursue his education goals working toward his Juris Doctorate and work in public service.

Mia Hazlett

Executive Assistant and Author
Mia has written for almost 20 years. Whether she’s scribbling plots in her journals or investing months into novels, writing is a piece of who she is. Her one dream was to become a published author. When she hit rock bottom with life she turned her life’s tribulations into her self-published book, Going Through It. For her own enjoyment, she contributes to three blogs. “A Young Writer Coming Up”, is where she gets away from her novels and writes short stories. “Mommy Not Friend”, follows her journey through single-income land. And she co-writes on “Gone Thru It” with her best friend, where they offer support and advice to single mothers who need that extra push to get through it! Although her full-time job and writing consume a great deal of her time, being the best mother to her two daughters is her life’s priority.

Scott Lussier

Geography Professor
Scott Lussier has over 20 years of experience making computerized maps of just about everything, including property boundaries, cranberry bogs, water pipes, sewer pipes, wetlands, power lines, rail lines, and more recently, people's travel adventures at his company, Passport Maps. He currently teaches Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping courses in the Geography Department at Bridgewater State University and in the Environmental Studies/Science program at Suffolk University in Boston. Throughout the years, he has also worked at the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, a large Electric Power Utility consulting firm, a small GIS firm (i.e. all by himself) and a few non-profits. A self-proclaimed "Travel Junky" and "Merd" (Map Nerd), he has not traveled everywhere just yet, but it’s on the list.
