Theme: Research and Passion

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

A senior in high school, Alice Michaelson loves to explore the outdoors hiking, biking, running, skiing, and kayaking. She plans on going to college next year to study biology or environmental science.

Born in Springfield, Illinois, of Hungarian parents, Boris developed a love for the natural world at an early age. He has lived in six states across the U.S. and the experiences he has gathered have shaped his visions for change.

Caitlin is eighteen years-old and a senior at South. When not in school, Caitlin enjoys playing hockey, ultimate frisbee, reading, and petting her dog.

Conner McLeod

Student

Conner McLeod is a senior at South Anchorage High School. He was born in Durban, South Africa and moved to Anchorage, Alaska as a toddler. Although he loves living in Alaska he is a keen traveler and enjoys returning to South Africa to reconnect with friends and family. Conner is a swimmer but is drawn to sports that take him outdoors like rock climbing, skiing and mountain biking. Conner is an avid filmmaker and photographer and regularly flies his quadcopter to take aerial footage for his films. In an effort to combine both of his passions, he is planning to pursue degrees in mechanical engineering and filmmaking.

Kendra is a senior at South Anchorage High School and plans to study communications at Brigham Young University of Idaho in the fall. Kendra is actively involved in the theater community at her school and throughout the city of Anchorage.
