In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Amber Young

Amber Young, a Cranbrook Kingswood high school junior, shares her story of exploring the depth of the field of medicine including areas in STEM such as stem cell research, tissue engineering, neurological research and drug discovery. Amber’s recent research project involves the use of mice models to analyze molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease. She aspires to become a neurologist as she continues her endeavors in scientific research. She also has a background in world affairs as she me with UN ambassadors from member countries including Comoros, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina to debate global health issues such as access to health care and medication. She is dynamic, ambitious and making a change in the world.

Ashley Weber

Ashley Weber is a lifelong learner whose favorite subjects include sociology, linguistics, communication, and character development. During her solo international travels, she embraces discomfort in an effort to celebrate the common thread between all cultures. A proud minimalist and neo-Luddite, Ashley enjoys questioning just about everything we value in contemporary America. Ashley currently teaches French at Cranbrook Kingswood School.

Nisha Choksi

Nisha Choksi is a Master’s candidate in Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) at Northwestern University. Prior to enrolling at Northwestern, Nisha graduated from Michigan State University and Cranbrook Kingswood Schools. Her research interests include economic development and education policy and her Master’s thesis is exploring vocational education and social mobility. Nisha is also the managing editor of Universal Mirror, an online Asian-interest magazine, which focuses on the intercultural exchange between east and west.

Stacey Harimoto

Throughout her time at Cranbrook Kingswood School, Stacey has been involved in Girl Scouts and earned her Gold Award in 2015. In addition, she has been involved in the schools robotics team for six years, and has been her team captain and a club co-president. She is excited to share how combining her passion for robotics and the Girl Scouts has allowed her to inspire many young girls.
