TEDxYouth@MapleAve is an independently organized TED event, created to give youths in our community the opportunity to express themselves and their ideas. This year marks our first ever annual conference where youth and invited speakers may present on a topic they are passionate about. Through TEDxYouth@MapleAve, we aspire to spread ideas and provoke intellectual conversation on topics that we, as community, may not have yet considered.
Our 2015 theme is "Life Sized: Living the Real World". We've all heard the phrase, "In the real world..." at some point in our childhood. But what many people fail to realize is that this phrase implies that the world in which children live in is fake or unimportant. We all experience and react to the real world on a daily basis. Through this theme, TEDxYouth@MapleAve seeks to emphasize the power and potential of youths in our community. We want to encourage children, teenagers, and young adults to defy expectations, create something "life-sized," and change the way people view others who are younger than them.
