In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Anais Tondeur

Anaïs Tondeur is a visual artist. Her art practice draws on an exploration of the interface between art and science, senses and cognition, fact and fiction. Her installations bring into narrative questions stemming from the evolution of knowledge and the impact of human living on the environment, through expeditions in physical or fictional territories. To this end, she often collaborates with scientists in the fields of geosciences, physics or astrophysics.

Anne Dutrey

Daniel Choquet

Initially an engineer, Daniel Choquet became a neuroscientist out of his fascination for this black box that accomplishes so many incredible functions: the human brain. His worked has evidenced the mobility of neurotransmitters, which may be at play in the brain storage process. A property that may help understanding better, even curing, brain dysfunctions such as Alzheimer’s diseases. Daniel Choquet is a highly recognized scientist, member of the French Academy of Sciences.

Isabelle Corten

Isabelle Corten is an architect and an urbanist, specialized in lighting. She is very soon fascinated by the social role that light can play in cities, by the « social nights ». Thus, he gets involved in projects and workshops with a political dimension, aimed at offering new perspectives on otherwise neglected, « poor » neighbourhoods. To her, public lighting must convey feelings of comfort, warmth, and she puts those ideas into practice in places that need it the most.

Laurent Cognet

Laurent Cognet is a scientist specialized in optics. His pioneering research focuses on detecting and understanding what is happening at the nano scale, this extremely small scale that the human eye cannot explore. He has invented new methods, that have been awarded many prizes, to explore always further the living matter. And what he found there, he says, is extremely surprising and unexpected !

Mathieu Nebra

At the age of 13, in 1999, when internet was barely accessible for most families, Mathieu Nebra decided that he wanted to learn how to build a website. Frustrated by the lack of help for complete beginners on a then obscure topic, he launched le "Site du Zéro", now "OpenClassrooms", an e-learning website based on communities. There, anyone can learn, and anyone can share knowledge. Mathieu Nebra thus proposes new education paradigms - and also saved many many students in computer sciences !

Philippe Balcou

Pierre-Alexandre Balland

Pierre-Alexandre Balland is Assistant Professor in Economic Geography. He is fascinated by the mechanisms that lead to the emergence of new ideas and how societies create and exchange knowledge. His work focuses in particular on the persistent role of geographical proximity in a world that seems smaller than ever before.
