Cuando era niña en Corea del Norte, Hyeonseo Lee pensaba que su país era "el mejor del planeta." No fue hasta la hambruna de los años 90 que comenzó a cuestionarse. Escapó del país cuando tenía14 años para comenzar una vida en la clandestinidad, como refugiada en China.
