Having grown up along the US-Mexico border, Elizabeth Camarillo Gutierrez is committed to giving back to her community and contributing to the ongoing empowerment and professional development of Latinos. She has been featured on NPR's Latino USA and was recognized by the Hispanic Scholarship Fund as its 2017 Scholar of the Year.

Camarillo Gutierrez graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2018 with a major in philosophy, politics and economics. Inspired by her interest in the impact of international globalization, she represented the US Department of State as a Gilman Scholar while living abroad in the UK. She is the author of the forthcoming memoir My Side of the River.
