The Romanian story in Solar Decathlon began with PRISPA team, at SDE 2012 in Madrid. Romania’s first participation in this contest was ranked 9th among the 20 finalists, scoring 2nd in the Energy Efficiency Contest and 4th in Comfort Conditions. PRISPA’s Student Team Leader, Mihai brings along his experience to recreate the amazing odyssey of a house built from scratch in just 16 months. Turned into a self-sustainable building, PRISPA house traveled all the way to Madrid and back to compete and be exposed in front of thousands of people, becoming the beloved home of a Romanian family. Inspired by the remarkable story of PRISPA, Romanian students are taking the next step to evolution and change and are participating in SDE 2014 Versailles with great enthusiasm. Bold concepts and innovative ideas will find their place in new houses, under the frenetic hands of a young team. Out of four Romanian candidacies for the next edition, two were accepted, TEAM BUCHAREST as one of the 20 finalists and UPTIM, from Timişoara, as the thirdcomplementary team. They are both eagerly looking forward to Versailles, waiting for the chance to prove their worth and bring their contribution to the development of sustainable construction in Romania and the world, for the sake of a better future.
