"Day by day, in every way, I am getting better and better." A term coined by French psychologist Émile Coué in the 19th century, and echoed in the lyrics of John Lennon's 'Beautiful Boy' in the 20th century, these words enticingly suggest the possibility of human progress, both individually and collectively.
Now we are in the 21st century, what does human progress look like? How do we recognise better? What does better look like for individuals, for groups and for society? How do you recognise better in your own life? And how can we, as societies, achieve better versions of ourselves?
