This year TEDxMidwest has 35 world class speakers and one of the best audiences in Chicago. The feedback we hear most often from our previous events is that it’s “one of the best events ever in Chicago”. This year will be even better. TEDxMidwest runs Thursday, May 2 from 1pm-6pm and Friday, May 3 from 9am-6pm at the Harris Theater in Millennium Park. There is a reception both nights from 6pm-8pm so you can meet the other amazing attendees. 35 GREAT SPEAKERS - Most of our speakers have spoken at TED, have won MacArthur Prizes or Pulitzer Prizes or are from other amazing organization like National Geographic and the MIT Media lab. Our speakers this year include Joi Ito who heads the MIT Media Lab - one of the most amazing tech places in the world, TED 2013 speaker and Harvard anti-corruption activist Larry Lessig, urban gardener Ron Finley, National Geographic top nature photographer Joel Sartore, Dr. Benjamin Harrison who prints human organs on essentially modified ink jet printers and Frank Heidt who is one of the top cybersecurity experts with stories that will shock you. Other previous TED speakers include futurist Stephen Petranek, urban training hero Bill Strickland, photographer Rick Smolan, ocenaographer Tierney Thys, comedienne Julia Sweeney, attention expert Linda Stone, oceanographer Dave Gallo. Other TEDxMidwest 2013 speakers include MacArthur winning architect Jeanne Gang, 2-time Pulitzer prize winning writer Paul Salopek, comedian Baratunde Thurston, 2-Time Peabody Award winning broadcast journalist Carol Marin and many others. AN EXCEPTIONAL AUDIENCE – Our audience will include hundreds of C level business people, presidents, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, investors and executive directors as well as scientists, authors, architects, performers, artists and teachers. We have many tools like our private social network Intronetworks and our “ambassadors” for you to meet dozens of other remarkable attendees before, during and after the event.
