About this event
TEDxThimphu is an inquiry into the nature of what matters in Bhutan from its standpoint as a new emerging democracy and its creation of GNH (Gross National Happiness). Speakers on the environment culture, economics and governance will be delving into the theme of What Matters when measuring the success of a society. East meets West as a group of US travelers plan to attend and participate in the lively discussions that follow the presentations.
Seating is limited. Refreshments and light snacks/food will be served.

Lyonpo Tshering Tobgayis a Member of Parliament representing Sombaykha Constitutency in Haa. He is the Leader of the Opposition Party in the National Assembly of Bhutan. -

Entreprenuer. Managing Partner. Chharu Tshongdel. Educated in India and in the U.S.A. and returned to Bhutan to run the family business of exporting Bhutanese Red Rice and is currently working on expanding into new markets and diversifying the business. -
Sonam Dorji
Director of Music of Bhutan Research Center in Bhutan. Sonam is a master musician, vocalist, and composer who plays several instruments native to Bhutan and India. The Music of Bhutan Research Center (MBRC) was founded in Thimphu in late 2008 to document, preserve, and promote the traditional music of Bhutan. -
